Google Update today? Keywords bouncing around

Non english sites, different niches. I dont see any pattern now... Example - one site: original content, only manual linkbuinding, 18 percent backlink with main kw

Dear today is very bad day for all seoz... specially me. I was very shocked when my boss has been sent me msg, and said that "our all projects are suffered today". today 17 jan 2013. till 3.30pm I was checkd my ranking is stable top 10, but now its not on there. Not single project it is almost all projects.. Google What is this.... can any body advice us what should We do.

This is something like New Penguin !!!!! My websites are f-king Nowhere and this happening now !!! - wait for few hours..-
Some my competitor are very up or very down in search results. We can wait week and check new pattern

My initial observations are that sites and keywords ranked with unnatural link profiles - specifically those utilizing heavy duplicate domain forum spam - have been hit hardest. I'm by no means claiming this is the only facet of the new algorithm tweak, but from the small amount of empirical evidence available... it does appear to be a contributing factor.

Quick status: none of our sites dropped as of yet. I'm not bragging, we felt most of the Panda / Penguin updates in the past unfortunately. Maybe this time it will be different... Fingers crossed!

Im guessing this is a Penguin update as from our data it seems to be backlink related.

if it is bouncing, ripples have not reaches very small countries yet (about 2mil peeps in total) - all things still in place. Language - very not English.

I also believe this is a penguin update. All sites that are effected have perfect on site SEO, the link profile is not as good as it should be, and those are the sites that got effect. Only time will tell but at this point I have no doubt it's penguin.

SAPE sites are still doing fine. This hit was different. I noticed phrases I went a little heavy on blog comments or forum posts dropped a touch, but nothing drastic 2-3 places at most. Thin sites tanked for non optimized phrases as well... but I'm going to wait for someone with a global view to let us know what happened.

well some site use mainly SAPE links i know still doing well
i see many people reported that their SE position dropped then come back.

I'm tracking over 2k kws at the minute, I don't know what you guys are seeing here but I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary compared to any other day, we have had a few emails about heavy dancing the last 2 days but nothing major compared to the number of kws being tracked here, more so the sites using our sape service to rank (over 200 guys) are climbing bigtime, lots hitting top spots over the past few days even today reviews are pouring in about top spots.

I seen someone mention .co.uk, its been long believed that in terms of updates etc the uk google is a few behind google.com I don't know if this is 100% true but it could explain the discrepancies in those compared to others. Will be watching closely over the next few days...

In my niche, sites with Sape links are totally gone out of first 5 pages, these same sites were dominating serps from last 7 months.

Same for me also its happening last 2 days i checking mine keywords are getting dancing only..when i used to check its on 1st page then when i used to see after 2-3 hours its result does not show only..and when i used to check again after 2-3 hours its shows on 2nd page of Google..and know also i checked it..its showing on 18th page..whats going on this....????

yes, I can confirm. Totally bad ass bounces since today. Beginning of the week many of the 200 kws i am checking are going through the rough, since yesterday i had more then 5 kws falling 400 spots, a few hours later they are going up again but only around 350 or so, this is somewhat strange!

Lol track better keywords

Every last extremely competitive, high $$$ term I track has changed massively in the last 48 hours. Talking about sites dropping 100-200 positions that were on the first page. Not just a few either, nearly every page of results for most terms are now wholly different. It's a Penguin update... though it appears to be a different kind than before.

Definite change today.... really strange though, no obvious sign as to what is being hit or rewarded.

Is there ever anything about what is rewarded? I cannot remember a period in the last 1.5 years where Google has updated their engine and not negatively impacted most of their results... regardless if they killed off wal-mart in some searches, or amazon in others, or whoever.

track better keywords? lol was waiting for you to pop your head in... Care to share some charts or pics or anything at all to back up your data or findings other than talk? I mean in a pool of 2k kws I'm sure I've got a pretty good idea of whats going on this the sort of "high $$$ term" you speak of (the last numbers on the right are monthly searches)...

Maybe there has indeed been some sort of update, time will tell but at the minute I'm seeing nothing out of the ordinary.
