Google Update today? Keywords bouncing around

Nope. Pretty sure it's a backlink thing. Checked about 30 of my 50+ clients and almost all dropped. All different sites, different ages, different domains, different platforms. Only one thing in common: same backlink strategy.

What's also strange is that I'm noticing massive drops for .co.uk sites and almost none for .com, yet. It'll be interesting to see how this develops over the next few days.

It seems like the update is targeting LOCAL results. We're observing massive movement here in Google.com.vn for many sites the past 2 days!

I've seen my local sites drop.... so far it seems to be offsite to me. I'm seeing sites with links of higher relevance being bumped up. Anyone else notice this or am I dreaming?

the usual dances across lots of sites mine and customers apart from two keywords.

keyword 1 moved from 1 to 3 solid tier 1 and 2 still intact tier 3/4 lots and lots of dindexed pages spin quality was good and unique si sites were web 2.0 platforms.

keyword 2 i had ordered a service a while back and the quality was poor with not much anchor diversity. I was in the process of diversifying anchors and domains. it had returned to around 40 for its main keyword (90000 exact) and longtails (2000-10000) were ranking very well it now ranked about 250.
due to the large amount of diversity required i had used web 2.0 platforms as tier one but...not your usual spammed by tools i had hand picked these and many had (at the time of posting very few outbound links)
the spin quality was human readable unique and would have passed moderation.
many have been deidexed and i also noticed the sites have become spammed.

from looking at my couple of drops it seems many sites that have become spammed have had a lot of pages deindexed. maybe google have done a clean up of the serps and its affected a lot of peoples backlinks.
this is no way cconclusive and just showing what apears to have happened in my case.

on the plus side traffic has increased on several other sites(not had time to check rankings yet) and no clients sites have been affected.

one site moved from #1 to #5 (2 hours ago it was #1)
other moved from #2 to #1

overall this is a bad day for me.

I also notice total number of backlinks in G Webmaster tools decreased significantly.

Definite change today.... really strange though, no obvious sign as to what is being hit or rewarded.

Some my competitor are very up or very down in search results. We can wait week and check new pattern

There's definitely been an update or refresh of some sort today. Many of our UK clients have dropped. When checking in Google.co.uk with a US proxy, it's still showing decent rankings (due to data centers). We've seen some pretty big losses today.

Same here form Germany pretty big losses. Now we must find out the reasons ...
