Hi people!
Do you need content for your movie sites?
I have decided to "beautify" a tool that I have made for my personal use and share it with the community.

[GET - FREE] IMDB Movie Scraper

1- Choose the number of movies you want
2- Choose the genre of the movies you want
3 - Choose where to save your list

This little tool will go and scrape every movie on the genre you have choose untill it reach the number of movies you desire. It will also save the picture of the movie from the movie page (it will create a folder with the name of the genre you have choose and save the pictures there with the title of the movie as filename). It will save this info in a file : Title, Genre, Description, Img Path (where it has saved the img on your hdd). If you save this file as .csv you can open it in excel.

One thing - if you havn't already done so, I'd recommend including some sort of content spinner in there .

Well... this is just a simple tool for fast use... I was thinking to add a module to upload to a wordpress blog... this will automaticaly create the site...and use the genre as categories ... You will see that the tool is not very very fast but it does its job

it would be great if this was a wordpress plugin that did this and got title and descriptions of listings and even added the movie charts too or different genres

I do not plan to make it a plugin...may be an independent software... it is just an ideea but this could be the base for it

Awesome. It would be nice little tool to auto populate the blogs. I would highly appreciate if you release it for us too

you make a movie site, you use the information scraped with this tool to populate the site then you put a content locker over it ... then send traffic and wait for the end of the month to get your money )

P.S I have been running it for 20 minutes now and it still says "Navigating to IMDB"...

look where you told it to save the movies and see the content of the file. It should say "navigating to imdb" only when it is changing the page then it start scraping all 50 movies on that page and so on...change to the next page, scrape... from time to time it may get stuck but for me it is working great and it only happened few times ...
Edit. I just start scraping the action movies and it is working fine ... buy the way: some time when you ope imdb you can ger an error... is from their side, the page is almost blank with a huge error message... then the tool stops (it has nothing to scrape) so you have to start the tool again (to load the site again)
May be I should add a random delay between scrapes... IMDB may display that error because the boot load page after page very fast...
