I've just been given a Linux 256MB / 1 CPU 20GB Disk VPS, I've never used one before and just wondered if you guys had any suggestions on what to play around with? ~Deleted member 364366

Does it have Apache/PHP installed on it? Set it up if not and start making a website!

Website, proxy, dns server, storage - try learning PHP, Perl or something on it.

for me I dont care about linux or what ever I started with windows 10 years ago :)

Linux is great for big, repetitive tasks that involve alot of calculations. Try working with a 100mb text file on windows then try it on a linux platform. There is a big difference :)

Cheers, proxies will probably be my plan!

I don't know yet actually, but it would be nice to be self hosted I'll take a look and see how many things I can get going at once!
