Domain Name Dispute

I registered some domain names like one year ago. I received an email from a lawyer here in the U.S. telling me to giveup three domains to a large company because the names are similar to one of their trademarks. Question: Is something I can do, like negociate with them for money? Thanks!!!!

are you getting traffic to these sites , are they parked or are they not even hosted?

Do not let them talk you out of those domains. Tell them your offer on them and
give them some time to be frustrated. Worse thing that can happen is ICANN takes them from you.

If he is asking you to sell the domain then there will be good offer for that domain. Start negotiate with him from higher price.

They did not ask him to sell them. They asked him to give them to the company.
However I am thinking their just pushing him around and he could actually sell them depending on how close
they match the actually name.

ask them for their trademark number you ll know if they are just bullshitting you right away. if your name sounds similar and if they dont have a trademark application no. you can tell them you will sell the domains for a price (ICANN will rule in their favor for domain disputes as long as they have a trademark application in progress and/or if they complainant can establish that you are trying to woo users looking for their website/products.) .

Go to TESS and do a trademark search and negotiate from a position of knowledge.

This is a normal tactic for businesses to do. Mainly you need to prove that you bought the names without intending to masquerade as them, nor build a site that could be mistaken for them.

If your sites were registered before theirs it helps you. If you have these sites up and running, it will help your case, especially of they are not related to the complainer's site or product.

If you were domain name squatting, they will probably win.

Until you are forced to give them up, I would haggle for them to buy from you. If they are gonna take them, make them TAKE them, do not just hand them over.
