Hurricane Sandy Monetization

Morals are totally philosophical, there are no right or wrong answers.

You call me a liar and act like a dick in my thread when i'm asking for some help and advice and then come out with this golden nugget?

Expand, or leave. That comment was useless.

Thanks.

Morals are subjective to culture, your upbringing from birth, the social norm of the geographical location you live in, etc. The way your moms perceives said morals is simply based on these facts. In a modern day society, someone with access to technological advancements such as the Internet are subject to the populations different perspective on an international level, whereas the "norm" for morality in an international average is fairly similar.

That being said, the monetization of a natural disaster for self-gain is morally incoherent to today's standards according to "social norm" of the situation. They are not cut off from the rest of the world, it's not like they do not see what is generally accepted as right an wrong.

Morals are NOT based on religion. They consist of the hard-wired consistent teachings you have learned from the time you were an infant, to now. Your brain is "conditioned" with the thoughts that action A is good and action B is bad. Religion is just a conditioning method, but this is ony applicable to CERTAIN religions. Some religions (IE:satanic church-goers, not tone confused with wicken) have dropped any idea of their morals.

While I somewhat agree with what you said. I still think morality is differs person to person, more so than others. But we're all individuals, we all have different levels of intelligence and we're all been brought up around different environments.

That being said I think you're incorrect "That being said, the monetization of a natural disaster for self-gain is morally incoherent to today's standards according to "social norm" of the situation." there's a lot of individuals that profit from disaster, death and human grief. Just to name a few; Media companies like news, funeral services they all profit from human loss. If you trade oil or gold, you will also profit from disasters since it's those commodities that typically increase in times of disaster. There's thousands of others, I could be listing them all day long given enough thought.

I think morality is shaped by religion, so you're saying the second largest religion in the world Islam is not shaping peoples morals? How did you come to that conclusion? It's religion that shapes a lot of a child's upbringing.

How ironic.

You where insulting people who were trying to help you. It's not their fault you don't like the way the medicine tastes. Your story was full of flaws too. That was brought up a number of times, but quite a lot of members.

So part from your one-liners. Do you have anything further to add?

Again, the "medicine" part is quite ironic isn't it?

Well fool you. Because none of it was a lie. I don't have anything else to say. I just thought your previous post was quite ridiculous. You should sort yourself out.

This is what I'll never understand. People like you come out with "I just thought" but no, I actually haven't got a clue what you thought because you come out with lame posts but don't want to back them up. That leads me to think; "well I actually just don't like the sound of that. But I don't have any valid argument to back up my feelings." Is that correct?

I think it's you who needs to sort yourself out. You could start in this thread, better late than never.

We have black hats - not black hearts. It is fine to game the
search engines and the Social Media sites, but making bank
on human tragedy and disaster is just plain wrong.

"Wiz"

I agree with this also. I think we're all capable of compassion. My heart goes out to the people of Syria right now, and I hope the days Assad are numbered.

I think some people here think I'm some kind of nihilist. I just typically argue the most up-popular most radical side of things. It's the ability to break out of the social norms of thinking, seeing everything from the other side of the table.

Everybody once believed in God, then someone argued well there might not in-fact be a God. Well I'm like that guy. Most of the time I'm unpopular, but I'm not trying to win a popularity contest here. I'm simply trying to open peoples minds into alternative view points and ways of seeing and approaching things. That's all.

I'm more surprised at how many people here are surprised.

Approx 1.2% of the U.S. population are potential psychopaths (http://www.hare.org/references/NeumannandHareJCCP2008.pdf), and I'm sure the condition is much more prevalent among scammers (obvs). Meaning even if you very generously play with numbers and say 1/10000 people is a psychopath (very, very generous) there are going to be ~700,000 people across the globe with no problem of doing this (actual expected numbers of psychopaths is much higher). This doesn't even take into account the people who aren't morally devoid, but are simply desperate, confused, or stupid.

I don't take this to be saying something about a culture or group of people, but of a type of person that is extremely inclined to take advantage of this kind of situation.

Think about it. Something happened that is extremely topical, emotionally grabbing, and best of all has little to no competition (no one else is willing to go there). It's the obvious choice.

(I'm trying to avoid the view of morals as subjective, as it appears to be a touchy subject. So, I'm avoiding them entirely)

P.S. It's horrible, and it should be stopped. I'm not saying otherwise , and never will. I'm just expressing my surprise at the people here who don't expect this to happen on a regular basis, especially considering the forum we're posting on.

I dont get the assertion that you need to be a psycopath to want to make a buck from unfortunate events. Its just as bad as when people make bs health blogs abd sell stuff that doesnt work, snake oil acne cream and whatnot.

I agree with you entirely. You don't have to be a psychopath, it was just an extreme example to prove a larger point (that it's widespread).

Roses are red, violets are blue, this doesn't make sense, close this thread

Lol why are you mad though? Maybe it's because you know I'm right and it hurts. I guess someone is extremely butt hurt today. The only moron here is you, with a total lack of any kind of emotional intelligence.

But yeah cool story bro. It was funny to read.

What makes you think I'm mad? Because I called you out for being ignorant?
glad you liked the "story"

"loclhero" Why do you keep neg rep'ing me? Isn't that an abuse of the rep system? Anyway, that's unimportant. What's important is I know that you're extremely offended (without any logical explanation). I think someone's acting a bit childish here, well it's times like this people show you their true colours.
Maybe you could come in and say something intelligent. Before your own reputation is diminished.

You make a stupid ass comment and claim there is no right or wrong in the world and you tell me I need to say something intelligent? You're too fucking ignorant of anything to even continue commenting so go ahead and have the last word. I know you will, resistance is futile...LMAO.

Oh and don't cry, I only neg repped you once. ONCE. And I did it for the reason the rep button was put there.

Right and wrong is personal opinion, something you can't seem to grasp. Laws, morals, ethics, and values these all change country to country, region to region. Go and travel, I can already see it's you who is the "ignorant" stereotypical American who can't see past his own nose, or relate to an alternative view point without coming across like a 5 years old.

But like I said the only person you're embarrassing here is yourself.

Thanks for clarifying that David.

Laws make up morals.

You sir, are incorrect, it's the other way around.

You want to monetize this disaster, out up a site with helpful info for the victims. Where to find the red cross, how to deal with FEMA, and put adsense on it and banner ads on it. I bet the red cross would jump on that with both feet, they are the KING of making money off disasters.

Spoken like a true communist.

Only laws keep this world sane. As it was all the time in history, morals always get overtaken by greedy and used on the masses to get profits for themselves. Morals not for everyone. Laws are.
