This place is a ghost-town compared to what it was just a few months ago...

Is there really THAT much less money to be had through black hatting, or are people just getting lazy? I'm a little disgusted, frankly. Rather than discuss new tactics and try to INVENT new ways to combat updates it looks like many folks have just given up.

I think part of it is also that the "quick buck" scammers who were trying to sell/rep/affiliate crappy me-too softwares are not gone since their software has been crushed. But even still... this place shouldn't be THIS quiet.

October is often a lull (like July) It was pretty dead last year as well.
Hope it's just a temp thing, sure it is. THings pick up all the time. Noticed local shops/pubs etc are all quiet in October (spke to a few owners, they say it happens most years) Summer over, (paying for holidays) Thanksgiving (for you from the US) then Christmas just around the corner (gonna need cash for that) paying off the one - saving for the other. October is the "squeeze" month between the two.

I think it's more difficult for noobies to give IM incl. SEO a try is because SEO has become more difficult to learn/implement/adapt to. And people who kept trying hard succedded in fooling the algorithm changes but are now more reluctant to share their ideas because they're worth much more. New people joining the forum look for proven ideas and if they don't find any they either give up or purchase a BL service (when you look at users buying them and the number of posts next to their names you'll know what I'm implying) and after seeing no results (or only short-term results) they quit.

People want their money quick: blast their site by using SB and count their bucks. It's always been like this in business: the lazy and not willing to work hard one looses. Obviously, there are some exceptions which are willing to work hard yet still don't succeed.

Btw, does the lack of new input on BHW mean that Google has won the SEO-battle?

But believe me there is still TONS of money to be made via SEO... there will always be. But only those who adopt to new changes and design their strategy accordingly will survive.


Its not just SEO... that is how everything works. Nothing is permanent but change.

Building new sites and relying on SE traffic is not something that I would heavily invest time or money right now - I used to have around 200 or so sites, earning decent amount of $$$ for more than five years; some would go up on the SERPs, some would go down, but there was at least some sort of consistency.


If you start building your "empire" right now, the next Google algo update could result in all your SE traffic getting wiped out; if not the next one, then the following one, which is what ... another 3 minutes away?

Nothing wrong with change, it happens and we all have to adapt, but pouring thousands of dollars or investing thousands of hours in something that is likely to give you a 1 to 100 chance of seeing good ROI doesn't really make much sense, you might as well go to the nearest casino. Of course, I could be way off, but right now, this is how I see it...

There is no traffic source that converts as well as SE traffic. I don't see that changing any time soon. There probably are a lot of people hurting and quitting. Others are just working hard as usual, gearing up for the holiday season.

I'm shocked anyone would be disgusted by people who quit. There have always been more quitters in IM than success stories.

I also think that alot of people just quitted the game, they probably got hit by the update and that was their first obstacle in the IM world. When you don't have seen and experienced a obstacle before you often quit when it happens. If you have seen obstacles before you know that an obstacle is the problem or the difference on why some people succeed and some are failing. Which of the two are you?

It doesn't feel like a business forum anymore. I've never met any businessmen/businesswomen that bitch and cry about big evil corporations. The only people that do that tend to be regular employees on minimum wage who feel the world owes them something for nothing.

It's more like being on an anti-capitalism conspiracy forum to be honest.

It's quite unreal to see people moaning about big corps, conspiracies, corruption and how all the poor small businesses are suffering. It wasn't long ago the majority were pushing acai berry trials with shady rebills, dirty biz ops, job scams, email scrape 'n' rapes, adding things to freshly baked cookies(hehe), pushing auto blogs with dup content, MFA farms.. The list goes on and on.

But now everyone's suddenly furious at the big evil capitalists because they can't rank their sites anymore.

We really need to get back to proper business. Making money. Screw all this moaning *boohoo* bullcrap.

Honestly, I think the moderators need to tighten the rules on the type of threads that can be posted here. This is not the Black Hat SEO forum area it is the General Internet Marketing Chit Chat forum area.

Yup. In fact a lot of the topics on here are very similar to the topics over at Warrior Forum. There's no black hat type stuff going on anymore around here.

But the horrible thing is that there are some members who are scamming about their bad companies and dropping this forum's reputation.

A coward dies a thousand deaths, a soldier dies but once. I have been hit by penguin AND panda - lost more than 85% of my traffic. Yes, I am a bit paranoid since I can`t identify my mistakes but I don`t care and I just move forward no matter one. I have new sites up and running, I am getting traffic from other sources and guess what? I am really successful. I know it`s hard to get stabbed and stand up again but that`s what IM is all about. I don`t buy that 'make quality sites and you will be fine sh!t - it`s a numbers game for me and as far as I am as determined to move forward and create a lot of different sites google hasn`t got a chance against me.

SEO is just a traffic source, there's other ways to get traffic too. IM to me stands for earning money online, you don't necessarily need SEO for that, altough it's still probably the highest quality traffic.

When was Ever SEO the biggest part of IM?

I'd consider list building, product creation, branding, conversions, ppc, and I can think of a ton of other things that could be cosidered to be just as important a part of IM as SEO if not more important.

Let's face it, the majority of people who are really getting rich online are not doing via SEO.
