Have you given up that easy?

The forum has been quiet lately. I like to believe that everyone is doing research and busy finding new ways to move forward. (I hope this is the case)

People need to change their mindset from taking value, to providing it.

For all the newbies reading this, it's time to adapt and start a real business (you can still spam, but it shouldn't be your only plan!). Set up a site that legitimately offers value. Turn it into a "go-to" site in a niche that's underdeveloped or lacks quality resources. If it gets slapped, it shouldn't crush you completely because SEO should not be the main traffic source in the first place.

Nowadays it's too risky to invest everything you have into seo alone. There are plenty of other sources that you should be focusing on for traffic.
When people say "screw google", "I'm going to boycott them"... Ironically, this is exactly what google wants. They want you to forget they exist and they want you to find other ways to get traffic. They want to rank sites based on how valuable they are and not because you built backlinks to it. Does SEO still work? of course it does, but you have to make google think you are building links for traffic, leads and relationships. In other words, they want you to market your site and not build links for the sole purpose of ranking higher. But who says you can't do both at the same time? Isn't that a part of what "building quality link" means?

When your site is valuable, you have a horde of fans doing the SEO for you.

BHW peaked years ago.

Still some flakes of gold scattered within 1000 tonnes of shit that is being piled on daily, though.

way too much negativity - way too many experts

everytime you try to share something an "expert" shoots you down.

I can't be bothered arguing with them

No doubt Google know the "shock and awe" of one update after another.

Strategy is the same as it ever was. Create content, create links, promote site, sell product, make cash.
Tactics have changed. Crappy links devalued, content being scrutinized a little more.

So many people did lazy IM and got slapped they are all away being "ass hurt" at the moment QQing that "SEO doesn't work"

BHW is no place for stupid/lazy people. If we've got rid of them - that's all good.
More money made on internet year in year out. 2013 will beat 2012 for online revenue generation, and that will continue for the next 5-10 years minimum.
If less people are prepared to learn and adapt to the slightly new way of doing things? GOOD

More for the rest of us. - A bigger share of a larger cake.

Scritty

I'm happy that the Warrior Forum type noobs are leaving in droves.
