What to do with new EMDs?

I stopped making EMD niche sites since the update. I still have about 20 emd domains. Should I wait until more is known or build/backlink and see what happens?

I was doing 1000 words 1% density, web 2.0s,social bomarks, wiki, and pad files to rank before. I lost most of my sites in the recent update. The #1s stayed... the rest vanished.

You need links to rank... Period. And use quality content on your damn money sites if you're not already.

Heard it all... quality content, quality links... Yet sites that got neither are ranking and sites that have got it, went to shit.

There are NO answers for the recent changes just yet, imo.

Instead of going for smaller micro niches where your limited to the amount of content you can actually publish try to go after an emd with a much broader niche scope in mind. So instead of going for replacement windscreen wipers go for car parts as a whole etc

I have a couple of emd that i was gonna work on but have put it on hold until I know more about the update. Lost a few emd domains by it. Even an authority site with 40+ pages got hit.

The fact that website owners were using EMD's was not the target of the recent update that wiped many of them off the SERP's but rather those owners were doing a variety of other things that got them demoted and they happened to be using EMD's as a part of their strategy. Google (or any other search engine for that matter) really doesn't care what URL you use as long as you have quality content and you don't appear to be deceptive in your practices. If your #1's weren't affected, mirror what you were doing with those domains on the ones you have left. Chances are that it was not the fact that you were using EMD's but a combination of other tactics that got your domains deindexed.

The only way google knows that you have an EMD is if you treat it like an EMD. In fact, there is no way that Google can know your site is an EMD unless you build it using EMD niche tactics.

(For example - Have same EMD keywords in all your H1-H3 tags, have same keyword in most of your anchor texts, have the same keywords in your alt images, have the same keywords in high density in your text. It isn't the URL that is the issue. It is the niche website building strategy.)

This is how Google can know you have an EMD. They are looking for the clues you give them.

If you like your EMDs, keep them and build an authority site style on it instead. Build content that is broader than your niche keywords. Use far broader terms in your anchor text. Lower your keyword density.

Most of my sites survived the update just fine. From what I can tell, those are the main differences.

DO THIS:

Go to your CP
add EMD as addon domain
now install wordpress on it.
add any good theme.
write 10-20 HIGH QUALITY RELATED articles (drip post them for 5 days)
everyday, build high pr social bookmark (4-5)
build some SOCIAL SIGNAL from account which has HIGH reach (no inactive account please)
search for relevant blogs, comment on them daily 2-3 but not on spam blogs (blog which has traffic

2-3 weeks you'll be on page 1 for medium competition keyword.
after 3 weeks

high pr web 2.0
web2.0 ===> social signals (linking)
drip feed them

#1 in 4 week.

Mine went down to #3 will build links to it but not the exact match anchor text.
Will also build links to the inner pages and make a new article(s)
