I use GSA Search engine ranker.

I have my captcha's set up so that Captcha Sniper is the first choice and want Decaptcha as the second service. When I do this, I get an error saying

"your host file is modified. this is usually done by Captcha Sniper to redirect captcha queries to its own. Please disable captcha sniper and try again."

Has anyone else got this issue or know what needs changing to resolve it?

In Captcha Sniper, you need to DESELECT 'use hosts file redirect' from the settings menu.

same here.. last time it happened i checked and while CS itself was not showing that much memory usage, i quit CS and straight away the commit charge memory usage dropped more than 1.5GB, restarted CS and things back to normal for a while... so it is definitely seems like a memory issue

also i noticed it seemed to be worse when the save unknown captchas was selected (not 100% sure of this, but it didnt happen when i turned that option off)

As I said, this is the first time I've heard of it. So I'm farily certain its very isolated. This specfic error is related to the winsock control (which handles incoming http) so reducing your thread count a bit might help. At any rate, if the next time you catch it, please email me at license[at]captchansiper.com so I can take a look.

I just spent some time with the captcha destruction kit and something is got my attention: I use GSA with the "use captcha_platform for detection", but some unsolved captchas are definitely already in Captcha Sniper. For example a popular "GeneralBlogs" captcha seems to be type u34 (50% success).

Since I can't check captchas and use "use captcha_platform for detection", I'd need the image processing values for u34 to use them in the captcha destruction kit to define another "GeneralBlogs" user defined captcha. The problem: CDK only shows user defined captchas, no idea how to get those u34 values...would be a lot more comfortable then finding out myself

Hope you understand what I mean and this makes sense.

Use clean image algorithm, is only used in the case of a single captcha. Type 8. It is so that an alternate algorithm can be used when different (dirty) variations of the same image are received. Some tools, send in images that are converted to jpg with loss of quality, and this is for that case. You can basically ignore it.

Save solved Captchas - this saves solved captchas along with their answers in a folder: solvedcaptchas - so that you can audit the results you're getting. Particularly for captchas added using CDK, so that you could try to improve the algorithm.

Save Unknown Capthcas - this saves unknown captchas in a folder: unknowncaptchas - so that you can possibly add the to CDK and create your own algorithm for them. Keep in mind CDK is for easy to medium captchas. Anything super complex would have to be hardcoded by me and included as a built in captcha.

The reason some appear as unknown which actually match the ones that are built in is because of a size difference. Most of the time, the built-in types have special hard coding which is not available via CDK. However, with this particular one, you are in luck

Try either:

-threshold 70%
-scale 200%

OR

-threshold 70%
-blur 0x1

Also be sure to deselect symbols from the OCR tab, in the characters section. Another possibility is that they have changed or tweaked the captcha type.

I have GS Ranker + Captch Sniper, however after some time captch sniper stops to solv captchas. No new captchas show in captch sniper window and GSA says captch service not available or something like that.

Please HELP !!
