This website is banking with Amazon...

For those who don't know, semrush tracks the top 20 Google/Bing rankings for about 100 million keywords they think are popular.

When I made this thread http://thewirecutter.com had 3,914 keywords in semrush. I only listed the (93) keywords with 1000+ searches/month. Look around and you can get a one month free coupon for semrush to view the rest.

Wow the site is big. I wonder if the site got hit due to the crappy content or due to those outbound links which are too many

You can't be serious. The site got to where it is because of its valuable content that is actually helpful for visitors. Look at all the real comments from users who actually contributed to the site.

Great find! I wonder how he got all that unique content if the site is only live since the start of this year. Must be a lot of work or cost a lot of money to write it all.

Nothing but haters. All it takes is drive and determination to come up with something original. Just quit being lazy and get to it. Quit waiting around to be spoon fed.

On another note. I notice a lot of the comments are about the site itself and not the products. Looks like paid posts.

You guys can't be serious. Fake posting is done by every freaking site. Not paid but faked. I'm guessing 90% of the posts there have been generated by the owner of the site.

Not hating, kudos to the guy and shows that it can be done.

The reason this site is ranking is not shocking at all. The main writier also works with wired, nytimes etc.

He has access and connections so he can get guest posts on these sites for probably cheap or even free (since they get his high quality content).

This guy is a great writer and Google is loving the time and effort he has put into these articles. If you were to buy them they would cost you a lot of money.

I'm not talking $30 an article either... more like $150-$200+. If you take the time and to read one you will see these weren't written as filler and just to rank, he actually wrote them because he is a tech enthusiast. There are so many OBL to quality resources to back up his claims and information.

You're going to have a really hard time "replicating" what he has done unless you hire a real pro writer or do these all yourself. Of course it's not impossible to do. I just think it's a lot harder than some of you may think.

Just my 2 cents.

So good website. Its position is so good and rank is also well in Google. Thanks for sharing about it with me.

Its the content, not the links which make this website so good.

This site will have been rated highly by a manual rater. The cost for content must be thousands a month for this site.

Pretty good site. He has done a lot of things and yes its pretty quick to get that kind of rank. I think you should see his back link strategies. Without any doubt its pretty neat too.

Looks like he lost a lot of rankings from the ones I checked.

I looked yesterday and saw the same. However, some of the other keywords improved. Definitely still doing pretty good considering all the carnage around.

Just run this site on Site Explorer and the result:
Domain Authority 64/100
Page Authority 70/100
Linking Root Domains 249
Total Links 46,415
Facebook Shares 893
Facebook Like 4,172s
Tweets 0
Google+ 1752I

wonder why no tweets? :)

Anyway, the site backlinks came from many well-established tech blogs. I'm going to watch this site closely.
