I tend to use 1 or 2 themes and mod them - as have some experience in playing around with WP
Buttons - use buy from Amazon standard button and a bunch of custom buttons
just get a free custom button maker just search on google and go from there.
I'm pretty busy at the moment with my whole business besides this project -- next step will be to take the Magento Sites to another level as they are sucking wind at this point.

Can you tell me how good.
It's nice to hear you guys are making bank but the fact is that it requires some great investment on tools. I could get .com, .net without any big problem but having all those tools at one is just a little over the top.
Probably I got to focus on manual SEO.. but it really does take time when we don't have all those tools.

I don't know maybe it's just me, but I don't do any SEO on my amazon site and I didn't use one tool besides some free wp plug-ins and my brain. And I really didn't even put a lot of effort into the site and the niche was super shi....not good , That's why I was surprised I was ranked for several long term keywords, was getting traffic and I made one sale.
Yippy for me! but seriously I think if you want to do it just do it and stop trying to find obstacles in a clear field (I just made that up

I am really sorry that you may feel that you need "tools" the only reason I posted my exact set-up was that I was being asked this many times and by posting it you could see what my investment and returns are like. Also you have to remember I run a small Seo Firm so I sell services using these tools for them as well ... so some people were saying well your buying alot of tools etc -- well that's because I charge $1000 + a month per client ---- so they are used on my Amazon Sites and client sites ... I suggest anyone starting out do the same to make some extra money.
Also if you read the thread you will realize that at one time I did every single thing manually until I made money - then I started buying tools. I started with content locking and found that to be really good .... however I wanted something Long Term and reputable -- so I started working with Amazon.
So to make $200-$500 a month you could do everything manually - but to make $2000 + a month then your going to needs ways to cut down the work load.
As to what I have been doing - I bought a bunch of Social Network tools and have been playing and learning them and am now going to sell to my existing clients.... my amazon earnings have been around $1700 + / - ....... -- and am bit stuck there as the Magento Sites still lag ... so maybe next week when I have more time I am going to really push the Magento Stores and see what I can get out of them.
My final point is this about this thread : when I started I had one set-up and way of doing it - now I have expanded things and in turn I am expanding my goal to a higher level -- you probably miss this if you just come in now and read the last few posts.

I agree with Calltyrone :: you can sit back and take no action and get nowhere and look for another thread that is trying to sell you something or get you to sign up through their affiliate link
or you can make yourself a plan / figure out how to get the job done and start taking action today ... and in a few months when the sales start -- start figuring out how to scale up... (also budget your time so your not killing yourself in the beginning) ... if you want to jump in at a more advanced level then get a part time job // do some CPA -- get yourself some money to work with - and get going.

Danny; what is the lowest price/ commission you get from a product you promote? I've heard that its better to select $100
products as the price is high, so commision is high. but it seems all those products have too much competition.. give me some advice to choose a product to promote.. thanks

1. I only market amazon on my sites - they are built a specific way and domains/keywords are bought to promote amazon products only - I have started testing 2 blogs with adsense using a similar method but haven't got the content yet - so obviously no earnings. Where you place Pictures and text links depends on the template you use.
2. Wp Robot can avoid penalties if you don't use it to post like crazy / use duplicate or spun content and it is a part of the site - meaning the site also has nice images and content people would read before buying something.
3. No idea I have a fairly powerful server and never has been an issue - but if your on a low powered server with limited resources then you would have to pick and choose which plugins to use on your site.

I never use - in my domains ....... I think I have one site with "review" in the name -- I have been at this a while and I know what domains work and what don't.
As far as products to pick - I have a mix now because the thing you don't realize is products don't sell every day 365 days a year - people buy different things at different times of the year.
People say things are saturated there's no point marketing one thing or the other ::: this is total BS.
Lets take Apple Ipad 3 as an example -- there are lets guess 500 mio searches a day spread throughout multiple keywords - so chances are even the worst site gets some search traffic.
but then compare that too - yellow pumpkin spatulas - that gets maybe 200 searches a day -- if your not in the top 3 for that then you are getting nothing ... zip ...... so you will always make more with more popular products than obscure products.
Anyway I have said it 100 times - this is not a get quick fast scheme - it takes some planning and thought - and figuring out what people search before they buy something -- and then providing them with that and a way to click something to give you a commission.
I also said probably some people will succeed and some people will fail - because they just don't get it and they give up too easily ---- the thing I found with my sites is this -- add more quality original unique content = get more visitors = get more money...... as far as Magento goes making next to nothing with those so far.
