Yeah, I find that keeping my aff manager informed makes it easier to explain a lot... or at least get him ready to see a bunch of traffic.

Chances are you don't need their approval per se but you'd like to make sure they have no problems with your redirect before you drop $600 in ads. Also, as someone else mentioned, giving them a heads up you're doing something big gives them a much better sense you're on the up and up when you go from zero to hero in a weekend.

Did you go with one major newspaper in each capital city, so 7 papers all up? And how long were your ads running in each paper?
What format did your ad take? Was it a banner ad of some kind, or merely one of those 2-3 line classified type ads?
Another twist on this, I would think, would be to start small in your local paper and place 3-4 ads for different offers. Once you know what converts, you can ramp up the one giving you the best ROI and go national with it.

I'd think that since the people signing up are typing in the URL from the ad to get to the offer they don't have any idea where his traffic is coming from, so it wouldn't matter.
I'd also be interested in knowing what your ad copy was.

This method works and will work in many areas considering todays economy. This can be modified for many programs. look at all the ppl out there laid off and looking for work. Could also go into niche mags like say dogfancy mag for free dog training tips etc. It does take some money and risk to find a good niche and market place to advertise in, but when you do you can make good money.

The issue with niche mags would probably be that you'd only be able to advertise short term. Most readers would subscribe each month, and so you'd get all your leads up front, and it would trail off pretty quickly after that....
Whereas with a broad-appeal offer like debt consolidation in a major newspaper, you'd have a constant stream of leads.
I would be interested in knowing how long Shane's ads ran for in each paper, and if he is now just renewing the ads each week/day/month?

I am going to try this in my area. I'll let you know how it works. I found a credit offer from n@verblue that pays $42 per lead! How sick would that be to get a lot of leads!

if the manager contact you..then tell him honestly that the high CTR is becoz you advertise at newspaper...

Inspired , by this post, i placed an ad in one of the classified newspaper, here in UK. By accident, i didnt choose to hide, my phone number, and my phone has been ringing all day. literally. like 40 people called this , morning.. i switched my phone off. LOL
