Apple is afraid of competition. It's ridiculous that those patent where granted by the U.S patent office, it shows patent official are incompetent. If this issue isn't resolved quickly this will lead to a TECH COLD WAR.

I mean, for a start, they were working TOGETHER on a project, so you think Apple wouldn't be so pissy about this.

Secondly, Apple have made their name. Why do they feel the need to bully people who have similar ideas? Copyright infringement? All the devices look the bloody same! HTC, Sony, Sony Ericson and all sorts will be next.

Apple and Samsung have filed similar lawsuits in eight other countries, including South Korea, Germany, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, Britain, France and Australia.

Samsung won a home court ruling earlier yesterday in the global patent battle against Apple. Judges in Seoul said Samsung didn't copy the look and feel of the iPhone and ruled that Apple infringed on Samsung's wireless technology

The United States Constitution says that patents are supposed to promote progress in science and the useful arts.

However due to free market forces and an incomptant/ignorant legal system, patents do the exact opposite.
Now normally, if their is a flaw in a free market system (ie: Corporate Pollution), then regulators are supposed to be implemented to help curb the market inefficiency.

However, if the government and especially judges don't even know where to define ineffectual property in regards to product design and technology, what hope is there?

Same thing with Oracle suing Google. Sun Microsystems would of never sued Google, but they were acquired by Oracle who are money-grubbing litigious psychos.

It's like FotoMedia suing Yahoo, Flickr and 100+ websites that use photo sharing because they acquired a patent from David Rose and his company when he sold it; who hated that law suit using his patent.

That's a bunch of bullshit. Patents are there to protect people's inventions and so that others don't steal them without credit. But instead of this being useful it's actually a bunch of bullshit because stupid patents are being granted.

Sounds like an overall loss for Apple. I haven't read 3 positive Apple comments on any blog or forum so far. I thought the Apple fanboys would be happy but they aren't so excited this time. I think Apple might have loss some consumer respect. I personally am repelled by Apple products now. Apple knows they are manipulating the system which I can't blame them for. But this hurts many more people than it helps.

In a previous lifetime I had to prepare evidence against patent trolls and what became painfully obvious was that the patent attorney's had no clue about technology. Worse, I could get up to speed on the application laws and rulings but they never seemed to make any headway in understanding how technology happens. FUBAR doesn't begin to describe the present patent process.

Seriously though gov need to re-think again and patent some items which can be patent, even if the item is hardware product. I cant wait for Apple to actually come clean and tell everyone that all their profits are s*** and that they have been faking accounts for years (if only that would actually happen..)

Also note that in the U.K.case, Apple actually had to publicly apologise to samsung on Apple's own website and state that SAMSUNG had not copied their Products.

Apple must have patented the

restrictive-OS-that-makes-your-smartphone-useless feature. Cause my Samsung Galaxy S3 doesnt have that "feature"....but it does have a shitload of features the iphone 4s doesnt have.

The first time i tried android i got rid of my ipad and iphone. People with brains lead and then the sheep (iphone crowd) follow. Apple is going down fast and they are clinging on to their last few minutes of fame.

I agree, I ended up going with Windows Phone and Android tablet and I would never switch back to Apple anything after getting my freedom back. It felt like being de-brainwashed from a cult. I would rather use a carrier pigeon than an iphone or ipad now. And I was a big Apple fanboy. I got rid of my Mac as well. Its a pretty crazy experience but very common I hear.

Before that i had ipod touch 4gen, and it survived 2 years and now i sold it and it will be as good as new for next 10 years, same as iphone, samsung dont last long and they do suck

Just got the galaxy s3 last week. Perfect size, I like a bigger screen, and is super light and thin. Runs bullet fast. The iPhone 5 will have to really step it up because the s3 is the best smartphone ever on the market. Even with the 6 month advantage the iPhone 5 will have, it might just break even with the s3. Siri will be better than than S Voice, but that might be about it, and it will cost more because Apple products are always over priced because they are trendy.
