On June 28 the traffic to one of my Mortgage Lead Generation site plummeted.

The Penguin had come to visit.

All keywords had gone from page 1 to page 5,6 or 7.

After Panicking for a few days , I Stared to research what people had been doing to fix the problem and came up with a simple plan.

Recovery Steps that work for me.

Removed all SEO Plugins
? Yoast SEO Plugin
? Easy WP SEO
? Image SEO Plugin
? Yet Another Related Post Plugin
? Cross Linker

Stared new link campaign with very varied anchor text diversity.
Build a Web2.0 Blog Network with ArticleWyz and started aggressive link building campaign.

What did you do in terms of your existing off site SEO? It looks like you focused a lot on your onsite. Did you remove any bad links or just start adding authoritative new links?

In the video, OP says he removed the plugins because he had heard that over optimized sites were being penalized by Penguin. He isn't sure if that was part of the overall fix or not though.

I don't think Yoast SEO Plugin is over optimization at all ... its up to you how you use the plugin. I find it helps to overall manage the on-site SEO of my whole website -- I love it!

The Yoast plugin might not have been the root cause of the problem.
I use to love the Toast Plugin, I may add it back as a test soon.

The Related Posts plugin put lots of links to internal page on my sites which is what we have all been told is the right thing to do and maybe it still is.

I am also diluting my exact anchor text links with lots and lots of generic terms.

The thing that sucks now, is that you need a lot more links to camouflage you main "Anchor Text Keyword".
Oh and don't forget more social signals.

This is still a work in progress, so I will update you as I see more results.

The focus keyword in the Video is on page 2 at position 11,12 and 13 (3 Separate Page) and have been there since Aug 5.
I am going to push them a little harder to see if I can push them to page one, which is where they use to be.

How i would fix it. The work starts with doing some Seo improvement and pinging your links and website from high pr website, adding high quality inbounds, posting plogger links and incoming links, then would work on redirect tools and monitoring your all links for 2 weeks, then commenting and creating trackbacks with regular time interval so google won't consider it fake or spam, creating and posting nucleus links, sending emails to google regarding the same and much more after this. Its a long process. PM Me If You want me to do this.

One page is at position #10 this morning (Aug 11), and the other 2 are at 13 and 14.

So we have had one Increase and One Decrease In ranking.

I don't have enough info yet to make my own post on research testing, but I have numerous tests underway to squash the penguin. Nevertheless, I did find that link diversification and obfuscation has proven positive SERP results, but ARE linked together in some algorithmic basis. Meaning my main page needed keywords that were tangential to my main keyword in order to climb pages. But, this didn't happen unless I also had a large variety of synonyms as my keyword. I think that G's penguin is trying to make the sites that have human oriented keyword backlinks climb higher to give more human oriented results. So for example in the real world not everyone will call a certain product by name in their links but may call it something similar and dilute the power of a certain keyword also in the real world humans will call your product something as the keyword and then link elsewhere (maybe a review, maybe a blog post, maybe a similar competitor product, etc.) and this has to happen. I found that using circle schemes to let these obfuscated and diluted links lead back to the main site still works.

Please keep up posted and as I gain more evidence I will either be spilling my guts here in a separate post or I'll be to busy making bank off it as my sites continue to climb in their niches

Penguin was about links not onpage seo. Panda is what you should be focusing on. You stated Penguin but i think you meant Panda. Can you be clear on this to avoid confusion?

Well we attack both issues - We diluted the anchor text with lots more links using ArticleWyz and other tools.

"Penguin was about links not onpage seo" - Yeah but we had lots of Internal Links on the site that we got rid.

Penguin attaches an negative PR to a page, so if you have lots of internal linking that negative PR is fed to other pages on the site.

I am seeing more traffic on the site in this case study and several clients sites.

One thing I am noticing is that sites that have over 100 pages are getting a lot more love from Google.
This makes sense doesn't it.

More Quality Pages more Content to Index more opportunities for Traffic!

All my main money sites have well written content, lots of images and some videos.

I am seeing a 60% spike in traffic on the loan site in the case study.

And an amazing 100%+ spike in traffic in one of my clients sites in the Heavy Construction Industry.
(Maybe its because the Economy in the USA is recovering in the last 2 days - NOT!)
