I deleted Google from my Firefox Search Box Permanently!

Google is hypocrite and does the opposite of what it preaches, so I have decided to delete Google from my Search Bar on my Firefox (my primary browser) so now my default searches goes to DuckDuckGo or Bing. I am liking duckduckgo more due to clean interface (read no ads and no cookies and no first page).

Why am I doing it?

Not because I am frustrated with google as a IM (I get most of my traffic from it) but I simply like duckduckgo more.

Would you never use google again?

No, I never intend that, I have to use google for IM purposes as currently google is No 1 search engine and we cannot ignore it but my default searches are not going google's way.

What do you hope to achieve by it?

I only hope to say to myself "I HAVE CHOICE" nothing more.

With duckduckgo, sure, there are much better results. Atleast duckduck shows better sites and not only brands like google.

I like Google. They bring me my traffic, and they provide extremely relevant search results. Bing and Yahoo never deliver what I am looking for when I am searching. Well they do, but not for extremely specific terms.

Maybe someday if Bing and Yahoo improve their search engines, then i'll switch but for now I am happy with Google. They send me traffic, and they do a good job of providing relevant search results.

Hmm... I think I might follow suit. I just checked out duckduckgo, and it looks like the results you get are just as good as Google. I don't see any further advantage to using Google.

I am not abandoning google and I still use google for research and advanced parameters like site: link: etc.. but when it comes to searching something for myself I prefer duckduckgo. I am not fool to abandon google when its the no 1 search engine but for my personal (non IM) needs I am going with duckduckgo and not giving google my search history.

Also, its very refreshing to search at duckduckgo with no page full of ads

Im a lazy bitch and tend to find myself googling sums all day when Im calculating my bills instead of using a calculator. etc 550 / 4, etc. Things like that. lol But Ive yet to try another search bar so I have no idea what else is out there. Im not a fan of the company at all, but I have to admit I love how far the art of search has come since they arrived.

This has inspired me to try something different for the night. Windows is prompting me to update Bing, think I just might...
