Do you submit the same press release to the multiple pr site?
Good post and well explained.
One question I have when using Web 2.0. type sites to increase ranking and (hopefully) drive traffic to your main money site what sort of content do you put on your Web 2.0. sites? Just rehashed stuff from the main site? Obviously re-writing new content would take an age for all these different web 2.0s.
I usually change some things around every time I submit to a new PR site. I manually change some wording, sentence order... I don't spin my press releases, because It is perfectly natural to have a duplicate press release, but I do make some minor changes every time I submit to a new site.
To be clear, I am not saying that Xrumer and Scrapebox don't work... they do. But now you need more Tiers, more buffers, and more trust to get the same rankings.
PartyNeon - this is awesome and helpful post. Much appreciate that and rep given. I could PM you with some fiver gigs from my collection, which you could include in your fiver case study

Web 2.0 for SEO for ONE main website. Do you create them as satellite sites, so, for example if you sell bikes you do a blog about mountain bikes which has good unique content but is clearly linked to you (eg it showcases your mountain bikes) OR do you have to pretend its a totally separate thing & do general content with links out all over the place?
Can you get away with linking to your articles (on article sites), press releases etc? And what about Squidoo lenses, Hubpages etc? At the moment mine are clearly mine (user name is my website name) showing my products, but with good unique content & some links to suppliers, articles etc as well as links to my products. Im clear that its another way to reach customers but will it help my SEO?
If anyone can definitively answer this I will tweet, like, link to & vote for whatever you want (except meds/porn/gambling). Seriously, its doing my head in
Really good post. I even printed it out which is high praise indeed - its just so good to have an overview. Going 'manual' isnt that hard though of course if youve got dozens of sites...but I have a question which I just cant seem to get right in my head (a massive hangover doesnt help).

Using Web 2.0's for one main website is fine. I do a 50/50 split of satellites and more natural looking pages. In reality, I honestly do not think that it matters very much, as long as you have enough unique content to make the page authoritative. I'll usually link the pages to another web 2.0 on the same domain (even if it is not my own page) Linking to the same domain won't drastically dilute the outbound link value, but it still makes the page look like a natural web 2.0.
You ABSOLUTELY can get away with linking to your articles, that is the best way to link. Most natural links are pointed to deep pages! This is definitely the way to go. (Don't completely eliminate your homepage though.)
I would pick a different username, thats an easy footprint.
Rather than make web 2.0's, spend $30, buy a few domains, and post content on satellite domains. This will ultimately pass more value than the lenses and hubpages.
