With all the talk about Google looking for new ways to catch SEO, people always wonder if they should ping links. I don't know the right answer, I don't think anyone does... But I can give my own insight.

Ping these links:
  • Web 2.0's
  • 3rd/4th tier links that might not get crawled automatically
  • Forum Profiles that DO NOT link directly to your money site

Do Not Ping These Links:
  • New pages on your money site
  • Referring domains that link directly to your main site
  • Articles and blog posts that will get crawled naturally.

Personally... I don't like to ping links. I could be wrong, but I think it is far better for Google to crawl links naturally. What do you guys thing?

To Ping or Not To Ping?

I would rather bookmark then ping. That's just me thou..

Ping pages that google can't find easily - like profiles or deep deep pages

Pinging new pages is NOT bad. Every WP blog auto pings each time you post automatically.

Has anyone seen any negative results from over pinging?

What is the best method to index profiles?
For one of my site i have done scrapebox blast for profiles. At start site serp improves but after few days it serp reduces to same position.
Is it good to do scrapebox blast for profiles which link to money site?

WP defaults by pinging of course, and doesn't seem to harm those sites. I ping all my new content.
Only example that I have witnessed of negative pinging is MASS pinging BAD links . IE XR profiles etc...

I ping links that aren't directly pointing to my money site. But in my opinion, bookmarking is a better way and looks a little more natural. I don't think it really hurts if you ping deep pages in your site though.

I usually bookmarks the links instead of pinging them.

i dont follow any of the tricks mentioned above ,just after every update i ping the website.it gets crawled and indexed .If they are any errors shown in sitemap,i will fix it.

I'd say pinging an already indexed page ( eg one u have just added a link to ) would logically look bad in G's eyes sepcially if the link u've built is the only change to the page.

As an SEO Expert and professional programmer I concur. I have never had an issue with a Google ranking for a website (or page) where pining is concerned. Use one or two ping sites and don't ping the shit out them. They will trace your new page/site and Google will eventually index it....

i have a weekly whats new blog on my site just one page ,, is it bad to ping that blog once or twice with different ping sites each week that i update it , my site is new maybe 4 weeks old

I've over pinged web 2.0 pages before to see what would happen and they still haven't been indexed...it's been like 4 months lol.

If i am not wrong isnt web 2.0 and blogs and articles (of published on wordpress, blogspot) are the 2 sides of one coin? SO either we should or we should not ping it?

It's no surprise that you have a negative rep when you keep bumping old threads.

Wake up and quit being annoying by bumping old threads already. It's getting rather old.
