I presume you mean to put a paragraph of 150 words after every H2 tag, rather than putting 150 words into an H2 tag. Am I right?

I think he means that for every 150 words of text, use one H2 tag. In other words, if you have a 300 word article, you can have two H2 tags, if you have a 450 word article, you can use 3 H2 tags, a 600 word article you can use 4 H2 tags, etc.

especially when the OP is claiming to have conducted this case study over 3 different niches and on 10 sites within each niche.

So what are the rankings for your sites? are they earning yet?

It's been 3 months since the sites have been registered. Prior to adding any links, the best few sites were getting about 50 clicks per day in a moderately competitive niche. ($1-2 CPC). As I'm typing this, two of the sites are becoming fairly profitable, top 5 positions for a 4k Exact/month Keyword.

Some questions though:
Where there in title or alt tags of your images the keywords?
Did you used any bold, italic or so?
The domain names and the pages where named after the keywords or not?

4 sites in each niche had images added to them. Of those 4 sites, 2 of them used exact keywords for alt tags, the other 2 used long tail keywords for the alt text. The long tail images ranked better. This is why I suggest 6-8 words for the alt text. As for bold and italic, I did some minor testing but ultimately determined the correlation effect to be too minimal to matter. I would suggest bolding some words, but don't expect a drastic influence.

The domain names had NOTHING to do with the keywords. I figured it was best to reduce any extraneous influence. Thanks for your questions!

The majority fell short of any profitable range, pulling 5-10 clicks per day. After adding links, this changed drastically. A couple now get over 400 clicks per day.

so this means that it is hopeless to build sites without backlinks.

There is absolutely no way to properly do an accurate SEO case study. There is absolutely no way to figure out that words between 6 and 9 are more important and know it was that that was important not something else.

The more H2 tags the better. 150 words under each H2 tag is the ideal range to achieve best rankings.

No way to know that as a fact no matter how many tests you do.

Many tags help? really? I can tell you after making all tag pages noindex I increased rankings and traffic on a site by 300%. Tags are evil if you don't use them correctly - see my guide on WP optimization.

My point is some findings make sense to be so but others there's no way to know for sure - hence fallacious. Is like saying "my site increased 3 positions in serps and it was a full moon" => "when there's a full moon, rankings increase"

I'm not attacking op, i'm just saying it is not a reliable case study and you can not make a reliable case study unless you control the entire environment, which in SEO is impossible. I did like the post though and found it an interesting read, I just wouldn't rely on every conclusion the OP made from the test.

Where do you get images from? Stock images are quite expensive.

Also what do you think of using hot-linked images from other sites (using mod rewrite so they look like as they are hosted on my site). Since in affiliate marketing, some merchant doesn't allow hosting images yourself. So i have to hot-link images from merchant sites, but i use mod rewrite, so image look like it is located on my sites.
