England struggled against France.

I'm french and struggling against us is really not good. We do suck, we do have a bad state of mind and i see us at half final that's it. (if we are 1st of the group ofc)

No hope on England :/

Germany might win this year. It will be quite interesting to see actually.

I just placed a bet of it being a spain/germany final and germany winning at 12/1 :p
as much as I would love to see England winning it I can't imagine it happening

England have no chance im afraid, were just not good enough. Spain-Germany final, and I fancy Germany to win it

I can't see England in the finals. Spain or Germany for sure.

I'm English and we have no chance.

We don't have the star players at the moment although that is probably a good thing but as soon as we play someone like Germany or Spain we are out.

only read the title...made me laugh :-D
did you actualy watch them play? lol
germany for the win!!!!!!!!!!!

but i have to say i was really impressed by the irish fans...so the irish win the fan battle. and ireland and england is almost the same. so yeah england wins something :-P

What people don't seem to realize with England in major tournaments is 'a series of unfortunate events' often do occur. England play really well against the good teams and lose because of some hard luck or stupid player mistakes.

examples:

Maradona's cheating handball, Gazza just missing when stretching his leg to score against Germany, David Beckham getting sent off against Argentina, Sol Campbell's disallowed goals against Argentina and Portugal, Rooney sent off because of Ronaldo 'The Winker' and more recently Frank Lampard's miles over the line disallowed goal against Germany.

Roy Hodgson currently seems to have some good luck and England haven't lost under his 4 game leadership. When selecting Andy Carroll and bringing on Theo Walcott against Sweden, these were decisions he made and they paid off brilliantly.

If England are to win this tournament then they must try and avoid the unlucky encounters and hold on to possession for more than one or two passes. They also need to avoid giving away silly free kicks close to their defensive area, and stop dropping deep and defending a 1-0 lead.

The knockout stages are where we really need Roy Hodgson's good luck to play its hand.

Expect yet another 'series of unfortunate events' in the coming games. And expect Wayne Rooney to get a red card for yet another hot headed and stupid dangerous tackle.

Spain are probably the favourites, but I think Germany are a good shout.

Holland or Italy might be worth a punt as well.

To be honest, I think England will be lucky to get out of their group. I'm certainly not expecting much from them.

Spain and Germany ,sorry i can't see England even as an outsider ..
P.S: i bet on Spain in last world cup !

Yes, England will win it.

Just think Chelsea. It's still 2012, so anything is possible.

As an Englishman I would LOVE it if we won, but I am not confident.

We need to beat Ukraine more than France beat Sweden- if we do not finish top of out group we will get knocked out by Spain in the next match. Finishing top on goal difference is so so sooooo vital!

On a side note- I have just returned from Poland (Poznan) and can only say great things about the country/city. I had an absolutely amazing week. The people are awesome, and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

I think people are slightly overestimating Spain's performance vs a very poor Ireland team. Germany have been consistent and clinical, and I can't see past them winning it, although I do think they'll beat Spain in the final.

Unfortunately that's all that Hodgsons teams do. We had him as our manager in Finland too (sure, different team but same playing style) and it was always the same. Even if we were playing 0-0 with Armenia or something and needing a win, nothing would change until 85 minutes and even then the team would not go gung ho.

Roy just means dropping deep.
