Hostwinds Shared2 Client's

Well, most of my datas I have in Hostgator is worth more than the money I paid for the hosting + one year of free SHARED hosting.

That is why I have them in HOSTGATOR. Thought, they suck, but they really dont.

usually not one to complain but this is just plain ****** due to this downtime ill have from changing hosts, creating my site, i bet my ranking are gonna fall quicker than a thai hookers nickers, just hit no 1 on my KWs as well

anyway at the end of the day its my fault , I should of kept proper back ups and paid the extra $5 a month and gone with a more reputable company

peter seems like a nice guy, but his company really needs to get its shit together

So you are with Zyma. They are very cheap they say 5 pounds a year. Have you noticed any downtimes with them? What about the speed does websites load up fast? Thanks in advance. Ohh yea they offer free transfer as well.

Hosted Site 1 for 6 months. So far, no complaints
Moved Site 2 last Friday. Did the website transfer myself. Zyma chipped in to help with configuring the emails etc.

Was pleasantly surprised to see them offer quick support even on Sat/Sun. If you go with them, do choose the daily back up option. It might be expensive, but it saves you a ton of trouble.

As I can see there are some problems with shared hosting. How about the Windows VPS hosting? Does anyone have one of these?

D.

Andee, I have no idea what's going on with HW but the back up issue is on you and not HW.

You need to build ALL of your sites locally and then publish them; it's a hard lesson learned but now you know.

If you are building sites with WP, you can use BackUpBuddy or one of the other back up and restore options. When we have a site that goes down, be it HTML, WP or otherwise, we can restore it in minutes because we NEVER launch a site unless we have our own backup.

Sorry for your loss Bro.

ah for fu*ks sake ! they dont even have a back up , hey 2 months free hosting 2@$5.50 dont cover it, this site just started making $300 a day.

and my clients site that i finished a week ago with no back up, all that work gone ....

no back ups ....... i know i should of had one , but i really didnt expend their servers to go commit harry carrey , lesson learned !

every off the titanic

Who cares if someone is a nice guy or not? This doesn't even matter. Hostwinds has proven more than once that they are not capable of offering a realiable shared hosting, regarding their other plans I don't know... I have been with them only a couple of months and I can tell you it was a complete disaster.

Losing their customer's data is only the tip of the iceberg.

You'd think they'd be prepared this time after their latest downtime fiasco but obviously they are not.

I am glad I just finished moving everything from them.

thanks man,

youre right the issue was on me, as they have a history of screw ups yet i did nothing to potentially mitigate the risk.

Id imagine if i had a job id get fired over this lol, the questions from my boss would be .....

you choose to host our site where ?
you made no back ups of our site ?
how much were you paying for hosting on the site that made us 10k last month ?
were there any warning signs this webhost may be of questionable quality ?

ummmmmm.....

all good, anyway it too much to handle for me right now, im turning the computer off till tomorrow and hopefully the fairy god mother will have fixed everything for me by then.

I got fed up as well and moved everything back to Hostgator. Shame really.

OMFG. I just received a new hosting information. So I'm gonna start my site from scratch? I have no backup. I've been to Dreamhost, JustHost or even Dollar2Host and never faced getting deleted like this.

Yeah, me too... just got the info via email. And all data is gone. LOL

Sorry for your loss bro, that sucks! However, I am glad this happened before my holiday.... would have sucked if it happened while beeing away from home.

All the files are gone with the wind. I obviously can't deal with this stress right now. One year of free hosting isn't enough to pay for almost 400 pages that I need to repost. This is so unacceptable. Better than Hostgator my ass. Shouldn't have transferred my sites to them. Ugh.

You never made any backup?
Sorry to hear that :(

Crap, I have three websites on shared2 and just lost all my data. Guess I'll start from scratch and see if they are honest about their offer of "full free 12 months of hosting"

Will give feedback here soon.

got this email reply from peter

I am going to give you a full 12 months free now, but please be aware you need to listen to our resource warning ( you have recieved several) and try and keep your RAM and CPU usage down, this can be casued by too many plugins, or one that is not working correctly

good that they kept their promise for 12 months free but I still have to start from scratch.

Anyway the support is pretty fast, tomorrow I hope the website will be up
