Thanks for the detailed review. I'd just like to make a few things clear in response to the negatives you mentioned:
- It's very easy to burn out the credits "for nothing" if you do not watch the tutorials closely and try to target too many long tail keywords.
I'm not sure what you mean "for nothing", but if you're unsure about the way you've set it up, just send an email to
[email protected] before you go live and ask for a review to see if you've set things up optimally. Brett will take a look at your account and give you feedback. It can take some experimentation to get things set up the way you'd like, but once it is set up, it's a great feeling to be hands-free.
Also, I remember there was some kind of a bug with the free trials building links too quickly last month, but we fixed that as soon as we got support tickets on it, so it shouldn't happen again. Sorry about that.
- Service providers do not risk their own reputation - just the reputation of the provider - LinkEmperor. That's why the level of service providers is very, very low... (Such as you get 300 microbloging backlinks, and all the URLs and the Titles are exactly the same, or you get 100 bookmarks with exactly the same title, description and anchor text...). Not to mention, the spinning quality is very low at all the providers I tried for my credits.
There's really no way to properly answer this without going into detail, so I'm going to do my best to lay it all out here.
First off, the spinning itself is done on our end, not by the providers, and we send the order out to them with spintax prepared. If you had an issue with a blast that came back improperly spun, let us know about it and we'll be happy to refund you the blast(s) in addition to our contacting the link building provider to see what the problem was. But if there is some kind of a categorical issue you have with the way we're spinning things, this is something that we'd like to know about, and would be easy to fix on our end.
But one of the biggest values that comes with Link Emperor is our ability to check the quality of the blasts you're receiving. We've worked with a massive amount of link building providers (we've ordered over 100 million links this year!), and quality can vary wildly even among established services like many of the guys who advertise on this forum.
That fact caused us to spend a ridiculous amount of time creating an algorithm that rates the quality of a link building provider, in order to give us the ability to order more from better providers and less from worse. When our customers don't get results, we get cancellations. So that's our #1 priority.
If a provider's quality drops too low, we'll automatically reject their submissions and if this happens too often, we delete their service entirely. In the past month we actually cleaned house and got rid of a bunch of services that were causing us issues, which has really improved the overall stats.
Here are the major factors that currently go into the algorithm:
- Average delivery time
- Cost per *successfully delivered* link in an absolute sense (we scrape all links and don't count failures in our metrics)
- Anchor text diversity (how many anchor texts can they accept per blast, more is always better)
- # of duplicate URLs (mainly for comment-type blasts, i.e. how often do they re-use the same URLs)
- # of duplicate domains (how much are they harvesting new sites, how big is their list if you keep ordering from them)
- # of duplicate IPs
- how many of their links come back un-anchored or as a partial failure if they're ordered as anchored
This all builds up to an adjusted cost per link, which determines how much business they receive, and it makes quite a difference in their weekly paycheck. So to say that their reputation is not on the line, in our opinion, is a non-entity. Their paycheck is on the line, and after building so many links this year, we can confidently say that we do have a high link quality in the factors that matter.
We are also constantly improving these metrics. Right now we're working on incorporating the mozrank of each link, which will really shake things up
So anyway, if you've ever done a large amount of link building yourself, you'll realize that new sites have to be harvested constantly or your lists begin to go stale. This causes weekly changes in list quality, and our providers will often go from being #1 to #4 and back again over the course of a few weeks, which means their paycheck goes from being very nice to very small if they can't keep up.
When we were working with some of the larger providers, we had no way to guarantee the quality of their blasts, which is why we now only work with providers that are willing to compete over quality on our terms. They like it because they don't have to do any marketing or customer service, they just have to be extremely good at providing a quality product. This keeps their costs low.
