Well an important site of mine has completel dropped off for the homepage and a landing page yesterday. I wondered what it might be! This bites. Whats weird though, is that the homepage is not ranking #1 for the company name? That is very strange. I am going to run a diversity linking campaign to it, and see how it goes over a month or two.

In my eye's, you have these choices regarding G:

1. Think long-term regarding SEO - there will be still 10 top 10 site's - adapt or die - sometimes hard, but true.

2. Move to AdWords, get pro in getting cheap click's (high CTR), measure your return, keep profitable keyword's, cut loss keyword's.

Simple as that.

There should indeed be some legislation that governs how they operate. They can currently dish out 'lifetime' denials of service which disable your rights to market any business you have now of in the future under your own name. Not many courts in the world would assume that everything you will ever do is considered 'wrong' in advance! They are allowed to use tracking that will associate any transgressions you may have made with any other business you may be associated with online. For instance. If you have been banned from Adwords or Adsense, you cannot then work on either from your own PC on behalf of anybody else or even as part of your daily employment because by association and use of tracking cookies you could jeopordise other people's accounts and therefore they will likewise be punished. That cannot possibly be legal anywhere in the world.

I cannot actually understand how the isn't any legislation that protects the rights of individuals and companies to access and do business on the internet utilizing the most prevalent tools that reach the majority (more than half) of the available market. If you have been banned from Adwords or Adsense, you are effectively denied access to more than half of the available advertising marketing on the internet in the western world,,, for the rest of your life according to Google. Now that's a mature, positive corporate citizen isn't it...?

Yeah like, honestly, remember the other penalty phase about a month or two ago targeting private blogs? Everyone cried and cried, but rankings are recovering now. Honestly, just hold on.

Whats weird is for my site, its simply 2 pages that have dropped off the face of the earth. Its also in a non-US non-UK google search engine, which usually aren't effected for a few months. They are just no where. Original content; its a company website.

Also my only MNS ranking at #1 has plummeted to #10, LOL. I was in the process of creating new MNS's. I'm going to sit back, discuss and analyze with ya'll and figure out the strategies that will work moving forward.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Google ease up in a few days and quality sites that got hit come back up. This isn't hurting just small sites.

Thats what I am thinking. I've had 2 sites hit, one of them was a legit, quality business site. I am going to see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

If you think Adwords is easier than Search, I don't think you have much experience with it.

I've had accounts banned by no particular reason other than some Google employee having a bad day, and Adwords bans mean that you can't register an account under your name again. Support is non-existent. They just don't care about their customers at all.

They just follow the same old principle: "He who controls the product, controls the market."

As a community we should setup a campaign to boycott Google for a day...

Call it the: "Webmasters Boycott Google's Monopoly Over Online Business"

Imagine if we could knock Google's ad revenue down for even one day. Do you think they'd pay attention to webmasters complaints about Google's disregard for legit webmasters that get kicked to the curb when they do these updates? Do you think they might change the way they respond to the complaints?

We'd have to have a webmaster education page and a average user explanation page with a set date that everyone could stick to.
People would have to be motivated by...
-fear: information gathering, control/monopoly, safety/bad results, etc...

B)
All people would have to do is take their search to Yahoo, Bing, or elsewhere for one day to show support.

C)
People would have to spread the word to their friends... think about how news on SOPA spread

It's been tough to rank, since my competitors have more money and resources, but every single one of them were hit on Monday, so I have actually benefited massively.

I'd say don't panic yet. give it a day or two. On the official google webmaster blog, Matt Cunts said sites that have "spun beyond recognition" contextual backlinks will be affected, but if you follow the link the site ranks #2 for "pay day loan" lol.

I completely agree, let the dust settle. The search results are so NON-user friendly that they've had the opposite effect of everything Google talks about re. quality. All talk, no walk. Expecting more changes to come before I start worrying too much.

A single page site (sales page), PR0 with 99% of the backlinks being Xrumer blasts just took over #1 for my main keyword, in the last hour.

so much for the negative seo theories.

I am not in Aus but my main money site is for the Aus market. it just got wiped off .com (was #10) but is still top on .com.au . I was thinking maybe the update was only .com. Are the sites you are talking about ranking on .com or .com.au.?

.com.au has been hit too, most of my sites which were top 3 in local searches and being paid for by clients are now from page 3-30.

Goodbye monthly income.
