Yup I have already done that, I'm done with chrome, adsense and everything google I can. I still have to use them for clients and but this shit is crazy. Hopefully someone will get on that facebook page.

Someone who has experience in creating fancy and authoritative FB pages, please create it so we can start viral campaign.

And change your default search engine to Bing, tell your friends, family, relatives to switch their SE to Bing and convince them that Google sucks now and Bing is a lot better. If you ever install OS on your friends or relatives PCs, change default SE to Bing.

Yep I'm with you. I have made Bing my default search and if I don't like what I see there I'll go to DuckDuckGo. I've got an ok social media presence and I am using it. Google needs to have it's untouchable powers stripped a bit and it will be better for everyone.

I have just used DuckDuckGo for the first time and I must say, nice and clean.

Man, I'd love to say that google slapped my site off the first page after their little update, but I'm still trying to find a fucking theme that will work for my first real website I'm trying to kickstart into my IM journey..

I'd say don't panic yet. give it a day or two. On the official google webmaster blog, Matt Cunts said sites that have "spun beyond recognition" contextual backlinks will be affected, but if you follow the link the site ranks #2 for "pay day loan" lol.

I have 2 sites I have used the same structure, same number of articles, same theme etc; the only different thing is the niche and the backlinks. The one I have use unique articles for backlinking and very high quality ones is off the 1000 top, the one with the spun backlinks is ranking higher. so for me it makes no sense.

There is another way of looking at this. From Google's perspective, its a PROFITABLE THING to give crap results for organic listings. It'll drive up Adwords bid prices and have lots more people clicking on adwords results desperately trying to get a decent, relevant piece of of information! Soon folk will be conditioned not to bother with organic listings as they'll all just be crap. That's not taking anything away from ebay, or wikipedia or other Google trusted fuck-buddy who will of course dominate the top spots... Ahhhh Hitler would be proud!! Worldwide domination and people conditioning.... I wonder if there's anything interesting about Eric's ancestral heritage ??? Nah... silly thought...hmmm

Yeah, looks great, but name sucks. We should just try to move the market share out of Google, so there will be no monopoly anymore. And that's when the competition will start. Which will be better for everyone.

There are over 2K people on BHW at any given time... assuming that most people target the USA market (a country with 300M citizens) we could really make a difference.

1. Lets assume that only half the population really shops online. 150M
2. Lets assume that the 2K BHWers on now can get 5 people to start telling others to change SEs.

Thats 10K people telling others to use BING. that means each person would have to convince 15K people to switch.

While this may seem like an unrealistic number.... consider the following.

1. Some people already use Bing/Yahoo.
2. Once you convince a few people, there is a good change they will convince others
3. Google is helping by providing crap results.
4. 90% of searchers use Google... so what if we can't convince the entire world... we could make a big dent and that dent would help people make money with SEs and not need Google....
5. If enough people switch Google will have to take notice and realize that they can not shit down our throats.
6. Other SEs will see that they need to play nice with webmasters.

For those saying we should boycott and campaign against google, while it sounds far fetched I have actually started informing my FB friends of the screwy results.

While most people are lazy and self serving even if they cannot by inspired by corruption, greed, monopoly etc... they can be inspired by not getting what they want quickly and easily so I have gone that route pointing out some of the odd results so far and advising people to use Yahoo/Bing if they cannot find what they want.

Every voice counts and eventually if enough voices are heard Google will either conform or disappear.

I think it's a war now. If we win, Google and other SEs will provide better results to users. If Google wins, they will continue making SE worse and worse each single day and forcing webmasters buying adwords credits. I think we should do everything we can, or Google employees will be just laughing out loud on us and they will know that they can do anything and nothing bad happens with them. Google is like a small kid who needs directions on what to do and what not to do.

If we will make this thing go viral, it will be an era of better and more user-oriented search engines.

Again, I don't want to be the wet blanket here but you guys are completely misdirecting your motivation. What's the end game here? Do you really think Bing or Yahoo would be any different if you somehow magically got millions of people to stop using Google?

We have to be real right now. We took a hit, now we adapt and learn to hide it better so it doesn't happen again. SEO still works, you just have to be smarter than an algorithm.

I totally agree with starting a movement to boycott Google. It was the Blackhatters of BHW that forced Google to make such drastic changes to its algorithm and if we all harness the same resources that made them do that, we can force them to see some sense and realise what is going on at the moment in the SERPs is way over the top. come on BHW!

Can't agree more. Instead of whining and blaming Google, we have to blame ourselves for being so naive and creating very low-quality, spammy backlinks to our websites that are easily tracked down by Google. We have to improve our blackhat backlinking methods and fight back this Panda update with better, more complex and higher-quality backlinking methods.

I dont know about you but I find it fairly easy to rank in Google, IF I put the effort in. I rank way better in G than the others. As is mentioned here, the point is NOT to bring down Google but give them a wake up call to quit screwing around with their algo!

They have a Manual review process to see if a site is worthy or not this bullshit they just rolled out cost people money.
Do you know if Google disappeared for 1 day it would cost them $9 million? That is based on last years figures. But guess what?You drop and they could give a shit about your white hat site with good content that has white hat links that was paying your bills.

If I Owned a grocery store and someone closed the roads for a day or week or month, I would have the right to get pissed. Same applies here.

The point of the whole thing is if we can get even a small shift towards Bing/Yahoo then Google WILL feel it. They are manipulating SERPS right now and have been doing so for a month. It is time they felt a little pain.
