Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

just for fun, type in "f*ck google" with the u in place of the asterisk. A great video shows up #4

Haha! Seo world is changing again. Next days will be interesting.
Many of my websites are gone from 100 serps, but not deindexed completely. Some are ranking much better.
Crazy times :)

Oh Shitz... The Internet is on fire!!!!

Here's what you should consider...

Option 1: Keep playing Google's game of smoke and mirrors with each of these updates

OR...

Option 2: Fire it back at Google and hit them where it hurts...
a) Go start social web campaigns telling people not to use Google:
-one idea, explain in simple terms how Google stores EVERYTHING you search for
-another idea, explain how Google sells their data to governments
-make a page explaining everything bad about Google on facebook and your website
-share it everywhere
-write press releases about how the Google update just ruined real business on the Internet
b) urge the boycott of Google in your marketing in favor of Yahoo and Bing

I'm sure this sounds childish, but Google has just demolished tens of thousands of real online businesses with this tom foolery...

Maybe they'll notice how much these updates hurt if it backfires and hurts their image for once.

And I'm not just talking about SEO's, marketers, and people who are plugged in all the time...

Average every-day people need to get a new image of Google... a bad image...

Here's how I see it. They gave EVERY legitimate business a reason to compete with each other through learning how to play the game of SEO with their engine. Matt Cutts can give us his baby talk about what SEO should be... but it's stupid to think that businesses won't do everything they can to do more business.

Google is basically hurting businesses that operate based on an incentive that Google created.

Not wanting to admit their shortcomings, Google spends all this time going after webmasters instead of focusing on finding better results.

Matt Cutts won't ever put in these terms...

but Google created the game. They gave every business an interest in competing with each other through SEO!

Google, here is what you need to realize...

Change the rules over night and you'll make a million enemies.

[end rant]

one of my sites has almost recovered. Was #1 yesterday, down to page 3, back on page one and now im #2. The #1 spot is a site with no content so hopefully I will take its place in the next few hours :)

I gave up on Google in 2004. I got sick of Google's cat and mouse game. I started focusing on MSN/Live and now, Bing.

Maybe I pissed away a lot of money, but atleast I can sleep better at night knowing an update isn't going to bankrupt me overnight. I am not saying Bing is perfect, as of right now, it's a hell of a lot better than Google relevant wise.

I think a boycott of Google is a good idea. Google has pissed off a lot of people, and when you poke an angry bear, it tends to attack.

Hey man..you seem to have a lot to say on a lot of subjects....Just wondering about this post of yours, where you wanted to share the cost of a $70 software with someone - http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...s/301097-splitting-amr-anyone-interested.html

You have said that you have a master's in nuclear something and that you have earned $2 Millions in IM..I am just wondering how a person with such fantastic credentials would sincerely want to save $40 bucks on a software, even though it was about a year ago???

I've actually wondered the same exact thing before. He seems to pull dollar amounts for stuff out of thin air.

maybe combine forces and blast links to mcutts blog. Show the big G the error in negative seo??

My site got hit, but now it keeps jumping to pos #2 then back to page 3 and it can change within minutes. How annoying, anyone else got this or know whats happening?

Politicians respond to either citizen outrage or special interests. Basically anything that gets them re-elected they are all ears for. It's a democracy and you should know how it works since you have an American flag as an avatar.

Regardless of the above, who is lobbying for you? Senior citizens have the AARP, gun owners have the NRA, etc. The list goes on. It's collective complaints that will bring Google's market dominance and control over e-commerce into question by lawmakers. Google has already sat through a number of Congressional hearings. How nice it would be to see Matt Cutts sitting in the hot seat for once. :)

While you may not like what I say, the truth is you shall never be heard if your mouth stays zippered shut. Freedom of speech is an American right earned by the blood of many. Don't disgrace it by displaying an American flag avatar and busting someones balls for reaching out to their representatives.

The first quarter lobbying expenditures of Google has more than doubled from the same period last year, but yet you prefer everyone to remain silent? Google is spending millions of dollars to get their views heard by those we elect, and this is not a time for us to remain silent. In fact, Google has spent more in the first quarter of this year then Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Facebook combined. Their interests are being heard. Are yours?

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/23/under-scrutiny-google-spends-record-amount-on-lobbying/

LOL...Of course it does. ;)

But Asslicker (or whatever his name is) thinks his congressman is gonna help him get google classified as a monopoly! How funny is that?
Somehow that will be more productive than adapting and overcoming google's latest and greatest fuckup... LMAO

Have a toke for me assphuck

Hey all,

My first post on here after reading a lot of stuff over the years! Don't normally post but thought I would add my two cents worth on the latest update.

Here's my take -

1) Google is not a search engine company. It is a marketing company, 'that owns a search engine' - period.
2) It is a listed company that has shareholders, has to deliver increased profits year on year and acts on behalf of its major shareholders.... - fact
3) Google does not make money by filling its search results with the likes of your site or mine.... only we do that and Google doesn't care.
4) If more people move to PPC then they make more money - fact
5) People are not going to leave Google and suddenly start using Bing, Yahoo or any other search engine.
6) When anyone company dominates a market it leads to problems and manipulation. Think small entrepreneurial businesses that once lead innovation and are now merely cash cows for their investors. Think Microsoft, Google and soon to be Facebook.
7) Google wants to know everything about you - think about the latest privacy policy. They want to know when you are on-line, when you are offline, the sites you visit - hell they even know when you build links, how you build links and the games you are playing... you can't even open an email account with them without them trying to push you into their social network and other tools. They even want your address to help your search experience (erm..) , telephone number (to help you unlock your email account (right...) and your mind!

Google is not your friend... if it doesn't own you or make money from you....

As for the latest update - stuff is jumping all over the place so I reckon it will take at least a week for it to settle down. I personally can see no logic to any of it with White hat sites up, sites solely 'gamed' with blog comments up.. and down.. sites with no links up... and down... it makes no f***ing sense at all. But rather than panic go grab a beer and come back in a weeks time... :D

A site I made 3 weeks ago, made some manual links to, and then blasted with about 2500 web 2.0s (first tier) 150 youtube videos (embedded) and a lot of manual high PR blog posts during this time (plus press releases with the first tier web 2.0s) just jumped on an insanely profitable keyword (10k/day profit with low capital outlay)
It's #6

Tier 2 consisted of a link wheel with 1 link to each web 2.0 or PR (random) one link to an authority page and 1 link to another random blog post... then blasted with tier 3

Churn and Burn, churn and burn.

How did you managed to make almost 100 links per day for a new site and not get sandboxed?

Which monetization method do you use?

What do you mean by 10K a day? Maybe that #1 would get 10k a day. It probably means 20K visitors a day, or around 1000 000 visitors per month. This is insanely competitive keyword. I doubt one can rank for such keyword in just 3 weeks, but if youreally can do that you own the internet.

-one idea, explain in simple terms how Google stores EVERYTHING you search for

This is it, but you have to exaggerate it a bit more - someone with 1 billion twitter followers tweet an improved version of this, or similar fear-based and g is going at least 6% down on the market share - guaranteed.

This is crazy. So my sites fell from page 2 to past 470 back in feb and now they are back up to ranks of #24 and #58 from the 400+ position. I'm glad. But damn, how are we ever suppose to figure out how to rank well if Google keeps making it a damn mystery and changing sh*t up!!

For those saying we should boycott and campaign against google, while it sounds far fetched I have actually started informing my FB friends of the screwy results.

While most people are lazy and self serving even if they cannot by inspired by corruption, greed, monopoly etc... they can be inspired by not getting what they want quickly and easily so I have gone that route pointing out some of the odd results so far and advising people to use Yahoo/Bing if they cannot find what they want.

Every voice counts and eventually if enough voices are heard Google will either conform or disappear.

Totally agree with you mate. Let's create FB page and boycott Google. All the traffic and like sellers should join all together, we should work together and launch biggest anti-Google campaign. This can't go on like this. There should be a competition, one company shouldn't rule the world and destroy everything in one click just because they want so.

Please, we should discuss that seriously. We, IMers always try to give best experience to users, + we want money. But all that Google wants now is money and shitty content. We are very strong, all of us can lower Google's market share by 80% and maybe then they will come to mind. Inform your friends, your family, your relatives, create FB pages, create everything you can, it will be a huge anti-Google campaign.

yes.. an avalanche starts from a single point..

i m not affected by this update (have positive effect on 3 sites).. however I am worried about the future.. any site that is dependent on google for income is doomed to fail at some point of time. Whatever comes from Google is just bonus for me.

What's the point? Search will eventually become less and less important. Social Media is where people spend alot of their time on now. Also, Google's search is threatened by services like Yelp.

I'd say move on to social media but still do some SEO.

It seems like the results are way better now and things are starting to get better in SERPs.
