Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

It seems site authority is more important then anything else right now.

Had a site that got burnt a while back with a big xrummer run it hit the first page 2 weeks ago,no new links for 8 months, gone now:smashfrea

Anyway I can see this puppy getting rolled back.

Forget hitting seomoz,it'll be protected as it's all over the net and PR stunt anyway.
If anyone is going to prove neg seo pm trusted people you know, select a well known target,do the work then post the drops this way the site cannot be protected by google.

kegnum and MrE are spot on. Web 2.0 sites as well as youtube videos got a nice big boast... not looking good. My case study site got destroyed, completely.

It seems like Google is just starting the roll out.. they're putting on the basic layer algorithm, then they put another layer over that and another until they are done rolling out.

At least that's what it seems like to me.

I'm also noticing my entertainment sites that have a lot facebook share and retweet stay in the same position for most of keywords, maybe social link is more valued now?

Also, I am noticing something very bizarre. When I search for a keyword I have been optimizing the home page for, on about the 4th-5th-6th etc. page there is a page from my site (not the home page, an inner page). This is characteristic of the sandbox but my sites are very old and have been through that already. Looks like G doesn't 'trust' my sites again.

The results are poorer quality. My sites had excellent, thorough content (800+ articles giving the searcher EXACTLY what he/she is looking for in thorough, well written detail) however they have been crushed. Instead we've got pages from amazon, sears, target, nextag, etc etc. with very little content on them at all. If a searcher searches for reviews on something, they are in buying mode but want to know more, e.g. which X Y Z is the best, pros and cons, common problems with the item in question etc. Going to a sears page with very little content is not what I call fulfilling the searcher's needs which is to have top quality information before buying. I would hardly call that black hat. Yes my link building is pretty black but I know my content is the most relevant and the best for the keywords I am targeting. I know I may be biased but prior to making my sites I knew that content was going to be king (or so I thought) therefore I made sure it was top class. It seems none of that shit matters when it comes to big corporations taking all the serps up.

Im in Australia. Are there any other ANZAC'S that have been smashed over the last couple of hours/day.
"LEST WE FORGET"

Yes, there are mate!

Have a client site which got smacked...was recovering from the previous de-indexing of ALN...reaching to about 30s, 40s and 50s..now all not in top 100..thats 78 keywords out of the 109 keywords that I was working on!

hope things change for the better when everything settles down..

I took a closer look at of the serp in a few of my niches and DAMN!!! Google just seems to be fucking up more and more. I am not just saying this cause I lost a few sites in the ranks... In fact I may even make more money since I slapped a few affiliate links on 100 or so support web 2.0 sites which are now ranking quite well now BTW.

Anyway, I just can't see them fucking up anymore without the average Joe and Jane getting pissed. Every update is just fucking things up more and more.

Spun Web 2.0 posts with 0 backlinks apparently are the best way to get in the top spots of Google now lmao

all my backlinks are almost completely gone now. within just 2 hours (from a pretty new site with no duplicate content)

A few of my sites have dropped a few rankings, but for the most part the tools that I'm using seem to have rankings that are way more off than the real rankings that I've checked manually.

I think the most important pieces of SEO (or the lack thereof) are fresh and broad content and social media. People recommending your site to their friends seems to be the latest trend for good rankings and I think that's where SEO is headed.

It seems that no matter how good your content is, if you're page is caught by their new over-optimized algorithm you're fucked. I've got pages with over 150 real comments that was ranked #2 for a big time keyword getting 2-3 new comments a day and these were damn good comments with people asking about the product, people writing full on essays with replies etc... The product was dissected down socially by the visitors with their reviews, and this page gets slapped? If a user searches for this product, is a page with an unbiased article on the product thats open to comments wth 150+ reviews on it not what a visitor wants to see?

Ya the page is optimized but not stuffed to any extent.

Ya I backlinked it but nothing crazy like direct scrapebox blasts, or profiles or huge spikes in links in a day. How else was I supposed to get the page to #2?

Over 20 different anchor texts used...

So because the page is too well optimized for it's respective keyword, Google now sees that as bad for visitors and trashes it?

This just doesn't make sense, it's like they are so stubborn and determined to beat blackhatters that this is the length their willing to go.

This looks like the exact same thing that happened last week. I am betting that most everyone will have serps back in a couple days.

Pages on your site may not appear in Google search results pages due to violations of the Google webmaster guidelines. Please review our webmaster guidelines and modify your site so that it meets those guidelines. Once your site meets our guidelines, you can request reconsideration and we'll evaluate your site.

I don't see how one is supposed to fix ones site if they don't tell you exactly what is wrong.

My old websites where i used every type of shit links are nowhere to be found now but all my late 2011-2012 websites are doing well, very well, last one i built on last weekend (i said last weekend) is sitting at #5 now. One thing i avoid using right now is to go beyond 1% density. That works really well. I am also happy seeing some shit websites leaving their spots for thought keywords :) I am coming!

This is going to kill my business :( Today nearly all my sites which i get paid for monthly by clients have dropped from top 3 spots, now they are ranging from page 3 to not seen at all... this aint cool at all wahhhh

I usually don't say to much about google updates etc. etc. but I was looking at a lot of the sites that were on the first page for a lot of keywords and man this is horrible. Most sites on the 1st page have 0 descriptions nothing at all.

This is pretty bad and looks like garbage.

Very true. Seen few of these today.

hey all! I am a n00b so my opinion doesn't come from being top ranked then getting the boot to the end of the line but I read what google had said. What it all boils down to is they are stepping up their game as all of you have been from the get go. I am sure that if a short cut was divulged to you that had little chance of going south you would take it, right? (I know I would, and will) I seriously doubt anyone with much black hat experience expected the current tactics to work indefinitely. This forum is a collection of some of the most impressive intellectuals I have ever been witness 2 and while this all hit home kinda hard for a lot, you will expose the loop holes once again by doing what you all love to do, building the better mouse trap. Chin up fellas, u got n00bs like me looking to ya for answers so...GET BACK TO WORK!!!! :)
