Sites Gone? Google Update? WTF

personally i see many site jumped over me have more authority than mine, they are like amazon or webmd. So i think this is a update. There is no fix.

This is unbelievable!

I had two sets of keywords. Both are 3 variations of each. As I wrote the first set was dropping like this

1. Set for Mainpage
Variation1 (main KW): dropped about 50 spots
Variation2: dropped about 30 spots
Varition 3 (with the less traffic on it): drops 8 spots

This morning my second set was affected:

2. Set for Subpage

Variation1 (main KW for this subsite): dropped about 50 spots
Variation2: dropped about 25 spots
Varition 3 (with the less traffic on it): drops 6 spots

While the first slowly recovers, now the second set got it. WTF is going on? There is scheme applying to set - It is totally clear. I used massive diversity of link sources and anchors, since they have been on first page, I did ONLY use the LSI anchors and the plain URL. In the end I only use soft links like social bookmarks, and even that seems to worsen everything.

subster,
in your niche(s) are you seeing the higher spots being taken up with sites that have no or small amount above the fold ads? I haven't had much time to check today but I do keep seeing this

search results keep getting worse
google is simply pushing up authority pages. for example you searched for health insurance

google not showing health insurance sites but showing for example a page about health insurance from amazon lol

I found that a lot of my sites danced in the last week or so but are all pretty much back where they were before. Only one site has suffered a relatively new site that I personally think I went to hard on with backlinks. So I can understand why that wouldn't be ranking any more. To tell you the truth after all this my sites are doing a fraction better. Especially in longtails! I guess a few of my competitors might have been wiped out.

I got movement on my sites also... But for the most part pretty balance. lets see how long it last

Remember. Google is an algorithm. There is something they're picking up on that you're doing that is making this change. Or there is something that's changed a little bit to cause these shifts. Try always to obscure your footprint.

I'm sorry, but all facebook fan pages look like ass. there is no way they should be ranking for anything with any traffic. I have a few KWs that I rank for that have these pages ranking... they look horrible. It's embarrassing.

Right, because the sites that have obscured their footprint survived... oh wait... no, every single site was hit that was SEO'd seriously for any period of time.

No, all those sites are without ads (including mine). It is a almost ad-free niche.

I have one site deindexed for more than 3 months now. The funny thing was I removed the adsense from the site a week later it's gone from serp

So every single site on the entire internet that was "SEO'd seriously" for any period of time has been hit? Okay, sure... I'd be interested to see your proof of this claim and possibly some statistics to back it up.

I'm not into the whole "Google is killing us" thought process. We're all on the same side here. Lets use all our huge resource of info to work this out.

I'm pointing out some factors that can be analysed, something has clearly changed, and the ones who will win will be the ones who analyse what this change is. Not the ones that shout from the rooftops and claim everything that has been SEO'd is hit and Google are bad. This is a thought process of a quitter. I've been watching sites that have gone up in rank in a big way, and some have gone down.

Yes Google are annoying us by taking away what works for us now, but the key is to find out what works next, isn't that the essence of BlackhatSEO, staying one step ahead of Google?

Everyone that has any knowledge about the internet knows backlinks help in ranking, and I'm sure Google dislike this! They're going to try and obscure signs of ranking, and what works to get you ranking organically. Why? This is their "bread and butter". Why pay $5 a day on AdWords when you can get a SB blast on Fiverr and rank organically #1?!

This is screwing Google, and they're obviously going to do something about it. Google want more people to use AdWords, this is their business! They want to cut all this SEO and manipulation of the SERPS out!

Factors we can safely say are:

It's not 100% manual SERP editing
It's not "voodoo" where it's just "happened" (although some people may believe this).
The FB pages ranking highly point towards Likes playing a more of a major role in Rankings, my belief is Social is a factor that is getting much stronger traction in the Google algorithm (G+'s are helping massively now too)

I am not trying to annoy anyone with this post, rather, work as a team to come to a decent solution. We can all say what we did with the sites that were punished.

I had a site that got hit and I was using a link-pushing service, I had a webmasters email as consequence of this. It was link-pushing to the money site.

I have other authority sites that have improved. I used buffer sites in these instances.

I say we weed out the offending "strategies" as a group, and see what's harmed people. The resource of info and webmaster knowledge here is phenomenal, we should use this to our advantage.

Watching the sites that have stayed is all that matters, watching the sites that have gone up is irrelevant.
I'll leave you to figure out exactly why...

FB likes are irrelevant to FB pages ranking...
How do I know?

Is top 10 for "how to lose weight fast" which is a 450k exact/mth term

So not only are you off, you're off by a considerable margin. FB mentionings and Twitter mentionings may play a role, but I'm thinking this is the tiniest of factors...
I could create a twitter bot that did nothing but mention my site through thousands of redirects all day long with the @ tool, and follow people based upon their interests to my niche.
Such a bot would take you less than 6 hours to program, and if it could rank a site for "how to lose weight fast" coupled with some backlinks, I'd been all over it... yet I realize it won't work...
I could create an undetectable facebook like bot even easier...
So no, this is hogwash, but keep spending your time and effort retweeting things.

Yes I understand that, and feel your reply is pedantic. Going up is relevant to an extent if you're actually doing propper analysis. Especially if a sites variables have not changed and it's seen a rise in SERPS.
Also it's obvious to watch the sites that "stayed" also I didn't put this as it's a given IMO.

As I said before it's nice to find out as a group what's not working and what's not rather than try and flame a n00b or pick holes in a post? Or am I missing the point of your posts?

I "suggested" social plays more of a factor, that's all. Not 100% blow out "it's all that matters", which is how you've interpreted what I said.
A twitter bot? :S is that supposed to be a serious answer? Or are you now trolling?

A Twitter bot would leave an obvious footprint. Like I said in my post above which you dismissed immediately, with little comment, which suggests to me slight contradiction in your explanation.

That's obviously not going to help in anyway whatsoever, and also flag as spam, Expertpeon you're clearly wound up about something I've said, yet not really giving much input into this thread IMO apart from criticism and negativity? I am only adding to the thread and suggesting people that have been hit suggest what they think may have got them punished.

You should remember Google uses an algorithm, it uses mathematical factors to dertermine ranking. It's not just "Magic" and "Voodoo".

How obvious of a footprint do you think it'd honestly leave? not much of one... you could spread out thousands of @ tweets in 30 minutes, even to relevant content... a facebook spam bot is used OFTEN, and their pages still don't rank. I don't see how this would be something google could tell was obvious either.

There are facebook pages that don't even show up in the top 500 results for a niche I'm in (by the 100th result you usually have sites with 5-10 links to them total), and these have 150,000 facebook likes...

It would be a lot easier if this could rank a site... but it cannot sadly.

I can't yet publish links but there are some great studies out there that evaluate the Google algorithm and the changes and that can be applied to this change.
