Sites Gone? Google Update? WTF

No, not untill know. Still dancing between 60 and 80.
I start to drive paid traffic onto the site and see if the changes something.

That's what google wants by penalizing sites. Don't use adwords.

I'm sorry for you guys, my sites are ok. New ones are ok, older ones are ok.

Not sure what happened, maybe it's just major dance?..

Anyways, Google serps are getting worse and worse each day. When I want to search something, sooo damn crappy serps appear in 80% of times. Serps were much better before those panda updates etc.

Now when I search for something, first thing that appears is 5 ads on top of serps, which can be really hard to detect on some monitors, because color is very light and close to white, which makes ads look like organic results.

Second thing - freshness. When I search for something, in 80% of cases, most results are "2days ago" "today" "5 days ago" etc. 2 words- it sucks. You know, sometimes freshness is not what users want. I want good data, not NEW data.

Third thing - images, videos, +1 buttons, previews. Hell, google was the most-loved se because of it's lightness, it was pretty and not overloaded. That's why G won and yahoo and bing were behind google. Look at the google now - it's heavily overloaded with lots of unneeded stuff.

Oh god, G sucks big time now. Hope any new se comes out with better algo oriented on users, not ppc ads.

Has anyone noticed the abundance of 'aged domains' in the top 10 searches? You are hard pushed to see sites less than a minimun of 5 years old. Looking at the data I have, I do think that an 'age = authority' switch has been turned on or up.......

I have lots of new sites, and some aged ones. Both are doing ok and ranking at page one. I don't think domain age is the matter.

I do think that content freshness is huge thing nowadays

Well this is what makes it all the more difficult to understand. I also have a number of new sites all of which tanked. I also have a lot of older sites which some tanked but others remained. Looking at more data, the anchor text switch may also have been dumbed down which was discussed in the Google threads a few weeks ago....

Quick update. Just checked some hard/moderate keywords and there are lots of sites on page 1 like this:

wow this is just great. All my sites are affected too. Thanks google!

That sucks mate. You mean ALL? Do you have a single site that survived? If not, was there anything that was linking them together?

Like same hosting, same ip, all sites in one webmaster/analytics/adsense account? Or maybe same linking strategy?

Going to create a survey guys, let's get some data what caused this.

I am posting here again. Looks like more crappy sites got on page one for my keywords. WTF?

Its a never ending battle between Big G and us hence I am not much bothered about the dance. They will continue coming with new updates, algo changes and will continue giving us nightmares so who cares.Google has its own mind and will keep on de-indexing/penalizing/sand boxing the sites even if you do the prefect SEO.

I thought I should just pitch in.

Ive got a site with NO backlinks, and it is number 1 when I type in my domain name (without .com). Its a very unique keyword, no competition. It has been number 1 for ever.

The other day I typed in my domain name (without .com) to check if google has updated the listing and added more pages. But this time it was gone, not even in top 100.

Imagine a domain like "dkdsgohdsg.com" and you search "dkdsgohdsg". Ofcourse your going to be number 1, but then when I found I wasn't even in top 100 I was seriously like what the hell is going on. Just about no other page had my term in it.

However, just now I checked and my pages are back at number 1 spot for the domain name. Still no backlinks or anything.

So perhaps this super dance glitch is returning to normal? Has anyone else got their sites back or atleast starting to move back up?

A survey is exactly what we need - let me know as soon as it is up and running.

My sites have gone aswel :( all the ones that are showing for my KWs are pages with VERY poor seo and next to NO backlinks.

My theory is that google has turned of the seo + backlinks = good site algo as a test to see what the search results are like without proper seo. I think that once they see that the results are totally fucked then they will turn it back on.

Dont forget, even big companies rely on trial and error.

But thats just my theory :P

Jumped back onto page one about an hour ago on one of my primary money sites. :)

Do you have a lot of links going to this site? If so what kind i.e. AMR/article, comments, bookmarks etc? How old is the domain and who do you host with? Just trying to see if there is some sort of pattern here...
