How EXACTLY is Google KW Tool accurate?

Hello everyone,

Mainly we all use Google KW Tool for finding keywords, some use "additional" softwares (Traffic Trevic, etc.), some don't, but Google KW Tool is essential. It's purpose is great and it has helped many to achieve their goals (yes, think outside of the box, but without proper kw research you got nothing), but you could also see cases where for example you have 8000+ exact matches, yet you gain very low traffic, even if you manage to rank on #1. In other cases some get more then 8000 traffic monthly, for less targeted match.

Now, as I stated in a title, how EXACTLY do you think Google KW Tool is accurate? My guess is - just a bit more then 75%, and with the help of other tools you can increase it to more then 95%. With experience you can "sharpen" your sense to, let's say to 99%.

Go and check whether your keyword is a seasonal keyword. You can do this by checking your keyword in Google Insights.

According to me it SUCKS ! The reports are not accurate moreover it doesn't display results for that particular keyword, there are more good keyword tools than Google KW like Wordtracker, Market Samurai etc.

Go and check whether your keyword is a seasonal keyword. You can do this by checking your keyword in Google Insights.

Could be seasonal, could be broad, could not be ranking #1 everywhere, could be a short time one such as some game's review or something.

Very hard to tell but google keywords tool is the primary thing I use. No reason besides me trusting what google says more than other companies

Google keyword tool is good as it used in various purpose and everything in this world cannot be perfect. Therefore you cannot say about something is 100% accurate.

Don't get confused bud, that is PPC competition not organic SEO competition. Two very different things.

It's pretty accurate, not 100% though. You can make your keyword research more accurate by using Traffic Travis along with Google KW Tool.

In my experience it's actually be pretty accurate. Obviously you can't expect 100% accuracy, but for the handful of sites I've ranked at the top of Google I'm actually getting about the amount of traffic I estimated. Keep in mind I only pay attention to exact match, make sure it's not seasonal or a short term thing. The KW Tool averages out over the most recent 12 months, so if something goes viral for a short time and gets 1.2 million searches and then no one ever searches for it again then it will still show 100k searches each month (at least for a while) and you will get no traffic from that keyword.
