Black Hatters on Craiglist be warned!

I was just going to browse on CL today and after I clicked to go on the jobs section for writing, it immediately popped up with this page:

all in hopes of earning affiliate marketing commissions or otherwise profiting at the expense of persons seeking employment.


Lots of variations on this scam, but each generally involves dangling (nonexistent!) compensation, and then directing you to a website where you are asked to sign up for something, use your credit card, or input personal information such as your email address.

FUN FACT: If you are able to determine a scammer's "affiliate ID" and report it to their affiliate marketing program, this will often result in termination of the scammer, and confiscation of the scammer's ill-gotten gains by the affiliate program."

I'm not sure how long this has been up there(don't use CL much), but it seems like they dogs have launched an attack on Black Hatters. Not that it'll do much good. Lol. Just thought anyone using CL for marketing should know that in case they didn't already. Thanks.

Actually, CL is right and it is also the reason you and I will not see CL guides anymore.

Scammers are spoiling business.

Blackhatting is not the same as scamming as some seem to think, it is using tricks to let the customer know he wants something.

A small example from RL would be to advertise things as being on sale while selling it for the regular price.
Or first raise prizes to then give you a discount letting you buy the item for regular prizes and have extra profits from the few weeks you raised prizes.

That is blackhatting to me and it happens everywhere, daily.

CL is just talking about people that think they are blackhatting and are actually scammers hurting CL AND BHW members.

I got scammed on CL just resiliently. I was looking for work and found this signature gatherer position. It said $30 an hour but the guy was total bogus. I got 250 signatures signed and he only paid me $50. I found out that I should have gotten up to $400 for those signatures. I'm just lucky I found the spot that actually pays up.

yeah beware of CL if you use it.

Lol. I don't blame you. I think thats how A.C figured out I was using multiple accounts and banned me. Lol. I SWEAR I had only submitted articles to ONE of the accounts and they canned me like, immediately. Haha. I'm gonna have to watch what I say on here. lol. That and using my A.C username the same as my username on here. lol. I'm probably a hugh dumba$$ for doing that, too. lol

Sounds like a black hatter's dream....or worst nightmare. Lol. Are there too many people scamming at this point ot make it worthwhile to target CL, or is it still possible to pull fish from the barrel? Lol. Cause I have a friend who meets people and really buys things from CL pretty regularly.

Craigslist still has worth and like your friend, many people I know use it all the time. Offer something of value, not some BS scam and you will find customers who want that value.

Some CPA guys are ruthless, "job search" traffic is an easy way to get credit applications if you do it correctly.

I just read an infographic on mashable this was one of the top 10 scams of the year, so I don't think it's anything new, but thanks anyway. I'm sure some people are unaware this is out there.

Yea. Hopefully I brought some light to CL newbs like me who didn't know about this. Lol. I wasn't planning on scamming those looking for a job on there(even though they are very, very succeptible victims. lol), I had just been reading alot of methods on here about it and decided to check it out. If anything, I'd just do ewhoring on there and steal a bunch of guy's time(which I know pretty much equals money but not LITERALLY money) and not people trying to make a lively-hood. lol
