Another Q about a hyphen in the domain name

Hi all, yes another hyphen question, though this is a bit different, I have read through most threads, and can't find a concrete answer on this.

Ok before I start, I MUST point out, I don't care about people remembering, or typing the domain name in the address bar, all i care about is obviously the SEO impact for purely G related searches, and the visual impact for the searcher.

Ok lets say my 2 keywords I want to target is DOGS and CATS will the hyphen in between affect SEO ranking in any way?

I'm reluctant on getting say dogscats etc..as I dont want the reader to see it as one word, or one product, I want them to know it's 2 separate products, so I though about separating them with a hyphen, so dogs-cats. it looks better to me from a visual aspect, and lets the buyer know it's two separate products.

so my question is, will the hyphen in between affect the SEO ranking for these 2 keywords in G??? please SEO gurus, help me out here. thanks in advance.

Without outing my domain, I have a site that is KW-KW-KW.com and ranks on the first page of google for about 300 KWs.

It is a small site of only about 300 KWs and each page is ranking for one KW so the structure would be Milk-Bread-Juice.com/Optimized-KW-Page.

I could care less about the root page ranking although it does for a particular KW phrase but the inner pages are all money pages and that is what works.

Hyphens do not harm your SERPS. I've even seem double hyphens (like key--word.com) ranking the top #5.
I also have a few sites with single hyphens on the domain and they are all ranking #1.
Do not think it will be easier if you has an EMD without hyphens, it's all about the efforts you put in offsite seo.
Have a good backlink profile and you will be good.

Please, do not blast the shit out of 10000 links in one day to your site. This is what may truly cause a big harm! Build links slowly and only blast links to your web properties and articles.

Hi, yeah I know about that stuff, not to blast right away with backlinks etc, I have 3 sites on page 1 of G, with one of them at #1 spot. Though I never considered using a hyphen until now, this is all I was concerned about.

You'll be fine with the hyphen but don't leave the non-hyphen one unregistered (if its available). Grab it too and redirect to the hyphen version.
