I know that PR means pagerank but what does it mean exactly? Is PR1 better than PR2? Sorry for the noob question this has been driving me nuts.

Page Rank is one way how Google measures or determine how important and relevant your website compare to other websites on the same niche. The more organic visitors that flocks to your website the more popular it becomes. And if organic visitors are constantly visiting your website the natural way, then Google will provide your website with a page rank on the next update base on the statistics it had collected.

The higher the page rank the better, I.e. page rank 8 is better than page rank 3.
Page rank doesn't effect your SERP's, but can be useful if you want to advertise links.

It's just a ranking that Google gives a site based mainly on the PR of the other sites linking to yours. Yes, it's as pointless as it sounds my friend. 5+ years ago high PR meant higher rankings but now it holds almost no weight at all.

Years ago it would have been worth your time to read up about it, but honestly I wouldn't even worry about it bro. Google doesn't even care about PR anymore they're just throwing out new numbers every year or so to make people think it still matters.
