I somewhat did that, I guess, linking to the same niche. You have to make the Pinterest picture go to the product. One of the things that makes Pinterest so successful is that women love other women's opinions on things to buy. A woman could be in a store and ask a total stranger who is female if she likes the color or if the dress makes her look fat. She knows that another woman will tell her what they think in an honest manner. Your followers are going to start getting mad if they see that the picture doesn't go to what it's supposed to go to, and they will unfollow your boards. The dress should go to the dress. A picture of curtains should go to where to buy the curtains or how to make them. That's why the suggestion in the first post to throw pictures on a blog is ridiculous. The pictures are not going to the instructions. A picture of a cake should go to the recipe. Hardly anyone is going to click on adsense or anything else if that cake doesn't go to a recipe. If someone wants to see a picture of a cake, they could go to google images. That's not what Pinterest is. Pinterest should stay white hat or it won't bring in good money.
But I am actually doing that now... exactly what you said. I'm searching for great sale items that look good, linking to them with a Pin and writing a comment. On a wedding dress that was 87% off, I have my "woman" saying how much she loves it and wishes she wasn't already married LOL.
