Hey fuck you paypal!

jesus guys you are scaring me now, i'm hoping this is just a 24 hour thing i pray to god this is not one of those limited and thats it cases, i dont know how the fuck they can get away with this shit, as i said i'd see past it if i'd done something out of the ordinary or had disputes but i haven't and never have :|

Paypal have never limited my account, that being said I always keep a few $XXXX in my account for emergencies and to give PayPal the security that they need to know that I am not about to scam them or anyone else.

I used to get the occasional checks on certain transactions but it doesn't happen anymore.

I'm not sure if a business account makes a difference but they have my limited business details including VAT number, and a copy of my passport.

Those guys even sent me a PayPal card which is rare in the UK that I can use to make purchase's such as adwords credit.

In the past I have had a lot of trouble with paypal and they even banned my account and kept my money for 6 months.

If have learnt anything from them it is to not get angry with them on the phone and to always give them the security they need to trust you.

Universal advice from many many posts I have read. is DO not keep any funds in your account. PERIOD.

How f'n hard is it to get a merchant account you guys?

PayPal did the same to me on some legit Ebay stuff.

Any suggestions?

Tue Jan 03 2012
Today without warning Paypal "closed" my account with $5,772.91 dollars in it. They say on the website and in several calls I made to them that they will not release the money due to a routine credit scan they made and didn't like what they read in my equifax credit report.

What closed means by their definition is I can't take the money out and I earn no interest on the money for 6 months. Almost 2 months have gone by since this happened and this is still the situation. They say when I signed up for Paypal I signed a standard agreement that says they can freeze the money in my account any time they want to. I strongly suspect they are earning interest on the money and, in effect, this is a scam on their part to make millions of dollars. I have 100% positive feedback as a seller on eBay (which owns paypal) and I've sold over 100 items. I have a feedback score of 86 with many of these being repeat business that doesn't cause the feedback number to increase. The money was frozen from an auction in which all the winning bidders gave me positive feedback except for one non-paying bidder in Italy who never sent the money despite repeated emails so, of course, I never sent him the item. (The amount of the non-paying bidder is $500.00 --- but since he never sent any money by Paypal or any other means I fail to see how this could play a roll in the "closed" account).

Periodic non-paying bidders are, unfortunately, a fact of life on eBay --- fortunately a rare one in my experience. The other eight winning auctions of the "freeze" auction all gave me not just positive but glowing feedbacks saying they both received the items I sent them and were extremely happy with them. Without the money from PayPal there is a very good chance I will lose my family home as well as my mother's home we are attempting to bring up to code. I, my wife, and two sons have lived in our family home for around 18 years. My mother, before she was institutionalized lived in her house (with my father, me and my sister in the earlier days) for around 50 years. We were planning on renting out my mother's house to help pay for the expenses of her staying at Alzheimer Gated communities which charge $3,500.00 a month and more.

Ironically, before this happened, I was a big fan of Paypal..

The only way to stop this injustice is for the IM community to rise up and band together and push for a congressional hearing with PP being the target. Nothing short of such a measure is going to incite PP to change its ways.

Those of you who have not had any issues, do yourself a favor and DO NOT take the seemingly high and mighty road. In other words, don't assume that if you do everything right, PP will not body slam you.

As I've said previously, I've never had any issues directly, however I personally know people who have and they were hit by PP out of the sky blue. Some of them were nearly destroyed financially. Heed these warnings because the writing is on the walls.

what should be done is a fucking law suit against these fuckers, collective law suit BILLIONS, I wana see fucking paypal crash and burn

This post sums up a huge portion of my frustration on the internet. I completely agree with your comments. I've been through it many times now and seems to occur to anyone or everyone. My advice is to "buy" 2 professionally made paypal accounts and use proper precautions to use them both. This way, if one gets screwed use the other one. This is what I've done the past couple years. And yes I use them for completely normal transactions, no scams or charge backs.

What do you guys think is a safe amount to keep in a PayPal account, or should you just wipe it clean every week or two?

Lol this thread is getting funny.

If PayPal legitimately stole/kept my my money I would simply take them to court as would many other business owners.

PayPal have been in business for years, how are they still going if they are such a fraudulent company.

Back to the topic of this thread when I used to get limited it would usually happen when I took the majority of my funds out of my account giving them no security, it's standard for them to do it, deal with it or don't use them.

nah fathom i think your wrong mate, this is the one time were i have left money laying in paypal because i was about to pay for sticky thread in the bst here, any other time i usually leave PP totally empty in-case something like this would ever happen fuck the irony eh, so yea its been the other way round for me! the one time i leave money in I get fucking limited :|

to be honest from what i have seen of them today I'm now a believer that they just do this shit randomly with no proper reason at all, then they wrap it up in red tape saying its security bla bla well thats total bullshit because i know for 100% i done nothing wrong and the 5 transactions they wanted to know about are all from legit accounts and are all accounts i've done transactions with weekly and never had issues before until now, so yea FUCK YOU PAYPAL

I dont think they do it for security reasons,i think its a scam to profit on the money thats in your account, for them the more thats in their the better coz they can make more via simple interest or by investing in other ways like forex, options etc etc...

I would be more inclined to say the more thats in your account the more the chance that they play games with your money..

On a personal note,im very very new to IM and it worries me greatly that this is allowed to happen to money that people need for business turnover or for personal day to day, week to week living expenses etc etc..

Is there really no other online solution??

Paypal is evil and needs to be destroyed like the Federal Reserve! Paypal has almost no regulations; they make Banks look like law abiding corporations. Now that's saying something! :D

Yeah, I'm the same. I've had my PayPal account for years and never had any problems. They also have my VAT number, passport and it's a business account. That's probably why we've not had problems.

I got the mastercard from them too, but I didn't know it was particularly exclusive, hehe.

Paypal have never limited my account, that being said I always keep a few $XXXX in my account for emergencies and to give PayPal the security that they need to know that I am not about to scam them or anyone else.

guys they have all that shit from me too! the point of the thread was to show that these mother fuckers are limiting accounts for no reason at all, before i thought when i heard these horror stories that the person it happened to must have done something wrong but now i know these cunts just limit accounts when they feel like it

as BTB said above they rinse and repeat this process over and over, its just a roll of the dice whether you will fall victim next or some other poor fella, i honestly dont know what i'm going to do if this isn't resolved tomorrow

To let everybody know:
Paypal, just like Adsense use a shitty crap called "STATISTICAL MODEL". This system runs through all the data you can possibly generate to determine whether you're good or evil.

To avoid such bullshit in the future, upgrade to a business account and you should be set.

Yeah, I just saw that story about them taking $6k of someone's money after doing a credit check. What. The. Fuck.

How can you just steal $6k because you didn't like something on someone's credit record? That's really insane. It's basically justifying theft because they have a bad credit rating.

It's pretty shady that they've been allowed to get so big and operate as such a major financial body without any regulations. They're basically a bank that's operating without any oversight.

I would imagine the problem is because regular buyers have no problems. It's the sellers who end up getting in trouble, so there's just not enough people facing difficulty for it to attract enough attention.

Look at the shady trial offers. They hit tens of millions, yet it took so long before the FTC got involved. Even now there's still trial offers, although not as many as there once were.
