Hi guys, after reading up a lot here at BHW, I decided to experiment with a low search volume, medium competition keyword. Before you draw to conclusions, the average sale I get is around $100, so decided to put in some manual labor and also to test my strategy out.

Below is the picture of how I used web 2.0's to link to my money site.

seo-strategy.jpg

Content: Money site has unique content and then I created another unique content on Wikispaces, Blogspot, Weebly and 70% unique spun content on the rest of the sites. On 50% of the sites, content included a youtube video + images.

Bought some fiverr gigs to do the xrumer, scrapebox, AMR blasts.

It took me 3 weeks to finish this, and I gave it considerable time so it looks authentic from Google's eyes (or so I think)

Presently, my articlesbase article ranks #2, while wikispaces/blogspot/money site make up for positions 3 - 10. The #1 position is taken by an EMD and for a few other keywords a PR5 site sits on #2.

I haven't followed any particular logic as such, which is where my concern is. I'd like to move to #1 position obviously, but at the very least, outrank the PR5 site (my site is PR3).

Can you advise how to improve upon this. Are there any lose ends that need to be tied up?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

It's a decent strategy, and I understand your caution by building small. I would suggest building out more. You need links from more unique c class ip's. A decent private blog network will help with that.

Also, don't worry about PR5 over your PR3. Certainly, domain authority still plays a part in rankings, but remember, it's all about pages. So, is your page more relevant than the other guy?

Personally, I'd point all the web 2's at the money site. I also agree with zartania about adding private blog network posts too. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the inputs. Yep its pretty relevant. I use WP seo plugin to check on the on page seo factors. Waiting for a couple of the fiverr gigs to be delivered in about 5 days time, perhaps that will push the rankings.

I read about linkwheels.. Maybe I should use another few web2.0s to tie up last layer?

I like the randomness a lot! What I would give a whirl is more unique content on your money site. I would also contact some blog owners with some pr and see if they would accept unique content from you in exchange for a link. I would try to get my articles on some self hosted blogs with pr to diversify even more.

But...is it relevant in popularity as well? Check out your competitions link profile. What sites are they getting links from, and what are the anchor text variants? Also, don't forget to throw a few links out there that are completely random just to mix it up a bit.

Don't forget about good old Adwords to help you come up with some LSI anchor text. Just search for your keyword phrase and make sure "Only show ideas closely related to my search terms" is NOT checked. Peruse the keywords Big G comes up with there and use some of them as your anchors.

Good luck with this! I hope you knock it out of the park!

Whoa wait a minute. Your ARTICLES that you submit to other sites shouldn't even be close to being anywhere near your main keyword. Unless I read that wrong.

If your keyword is door knobs for garages, write an article about garages or homes.

Unless I misunderstood. Just pointing that out.

Very good strategie, and I suggest idem Zartania (more c class ip) and some forums links...

hey good luck with the fiverr gigs, bunch of scammers on there.

I think your strategy lacks of 'link diversity'.
They are all web2.0 properties pointing at your money site.

Perhaps, you should point some high PR, forum links, article directories to your money site too. (obiviously, not 1000000 forum links to money site, but a reasonable and realistic amount)

Why is that? Surely highly relevant content linking to your website is the whole point?

I mean, don't use your EXACT keyword in your Spam article. Make it about garage doors but not Garage Door Hindge Reviews etc.. For the exact reason that you end up making more comp for yourself.

I agree with this. Write your articles within the same theme, but never in direct competition with your money site pages. (i.e. same keyword phrase, etc.)

I would either do some manual do follow blog commenting to your money site or some articles on a private network or using build my rank. Either strategy will give you the push you need.

I think I messed up here then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I basically broke the anchor text keywords into 6 two word phrases and distributed them amongst the 2.0's.

So in essence I think I kind of set up my own competition, which kind of explains why my money site + wikispaces and blogspot sites are all showing up.

QUESTION: So i'll have to change the two words anchor text to say maybe up to 4 words keyphrases?
NOTE: In the future, build 2.0s that do not directly compete/target the same keyword as the money site, but still have the content relevant to the same topic?

Thanks for this tip. Did a basic on opensiteexplorer and instantly noticed the huge difference in page authority. Will have to do a bit more of internal linking + perhaps some other backlinks to diversify.

hey good luck with the fiverr gigs, bunch of scammers on there.

If you dig a bit deeper you will find a goldmine of service providers. I always stick to my list of regular fiverr providers that i've worked with on previous gigs.

Disagree strongly - Not making more competition for yourself, but making more competition for your competitors.

I run 3 travel sites overlapping each others niche and own a few first pages on google. I also deliberately rank my articles highly to squeeze out competitors. This method is too hard to bother with for some harder searches but for easier searches it's a very sound method which makes me alot of $$$

Try some high quality social bookmarks, a few high pr blog comments, and maybe some private blog networks all pointing to your money site. Maybe some wiki links too.

Just to clarify here - On tier 1 pages, I do use the exact keyword phrase in the anchor text (i.e. My anchor text will match the Title of the money page) on some of the links.

What I meant is - make sure that your web 2.0 (or anything else you produce) doesn't have a title, description, etc. equal to that of your money page, however, keep whatever you produce within the same theme.

Make sense?

Guys.. I'm pleased to announce that my Blogspot 2.0 just knocked off the EMD as well as the PR5 site that was sitting there. Looking at the above picture, I guess the High authority profile links helped to push it.

I guess i'll have to use link pyramids for each of the 2.0's just to cement the positions and maybe use some of the services on my money site. All in all, it feels good!!!!!
