Keyword Research the BTB Way

Well after reading this I went ahead and took the leap. Did the keyword research ignoring the things I normally do. Think I found some really good stuff that will be easy to rank for and easy to become an authority on. Bought an nice clean looking ".org" and am now hand writing all the content, attempting to actually make the content useful.
I'm interested in how you set up your sites and things like URL structure, site themes, along with ad placement.
Could I get a few pointer?

I'm impressed with you in that you took action; congrats and kudos to you.

I set up my permalinks like this /%postname%/, try to use very simple themes and play with the ad placement some but I do have my go to ad placement that I describe in this ebook:

I know, I surprised myself. I'm currently using
Code: 
"/%category%/%postname%/"
just for the SEO boost I believe it gives. Personally I own a copy of CTR theme but it just seems to scream MFA!!!!

I differ 100% from what you said. BTB is one of the most helpful/Kind member in BHW. He might have some plans

If you see the youtube channel, you can find other videos related to this course uploaded.

That post was not a joke on those following. It was deleted by the mods as no coaching is allowed apparently. I, along with a couple others are working with BTB and the 2 people chosen to be taught and we are actually are having a lot of fun with it.

Pay it forward folks, there is room for everyone. it really is worth it.

No joke at all... Tnphoneman and a couple of others are offering huge help to a couple of Noobs in getting them involved in the IM industry.

Tons of sun and very satisfying.

@Scully - I would never pull something like that nor would the 3 other guys that are involved in the process... actually they are taking a lot of time out of their lives to help out some noobs and offering advice that is teaching me as well.
 
I can confirm it was no joke too. I wasn't one of the two who where picked, but I can confirm BTB was working on PDF's and videos to distribute among members, regarding keyword research, word press setup etc..

If you read over his previous threads, he has given away more than most, handing away niche domains with multiple extensions to those who are less fortunate. He also handily offers his time. For someone as successful in this game as he is. that time is worth money, and priceless to beginners like me.
 
Hey Greg, i've had one question burning in my head for a while now and I thought, who better to ask then you?

When choosing a keyword to target, what do you do when almost all the keywords are dominated by actual authority sites?

lets use your cancer site as an example. I can imagine a lot of the keywords you would be targeting have the top 5 as mayoclinic, webmd, orthopedics.about, emedicinehelp, cancer.org, etc. Would you target these keywords even though it has those authority sites dominating? why or why not?

Typically any KW I go after has some serious authority sites in front of me initially but since I target hundreds and sometimes thousands of KWs I become an authority site as well and although I may not overcome the guys in from of me all the time, I get them more often than not.

Content, content and a little more content on top of that and then add in some backlinks to spice that dish up and Google just eats it up.

Content is King and backlinks are Queen and together them make good children.
 
I am earning about $10-$20 on Adsense a day ranking #1 on a keyword which has 30k exact searches a month and almost a full competition bar according to Google's keyword tool. Is this reasonably good or terrible? I took a lot of time getting it to where it is now and spent a lot of money. Just wanted your opinion BTB :)
