Flipping Q&A - ask me whatever you like :)

Flipping - absolutely! My business partner is completely useless when it comes to php or even (above basic) html and advanced wordpress functions, and yet he was making quite a bit of cash before we partnered up.

That said, I personally don't consider building sites from ground up to be sold later flipping - this is something entirely different and something that's rarely worth the effort even if you know everything about everything. If you're interested in my opinion on this then check some other threads in this section - I've opened my mouth about it (and explained why it's rarely profitable) many times over so won't repeat myself.
Alright, will do. Thanks.

Do you guys ever find "ended" auctions in the same niche and message people that have inquired on their auction? Furthermore do you know if this is even aloud? I tried messaging flippa staff and they never got back to me. I know you cannot message people about offers that take place off of the website.

*Random Thought* I wish the site flipping section was more active...:(

Sure, you can do that. Just make sure you don't spam people. Seems like smart business to me :)

I've got a pretty large network of iPhone 4 related domains. Looking to get some input as to what you think they might be worth.

Domains include the following:

Code:
IPHONE4UNLOCKEDdotcom
IPHONE4CASEdotcom
IPHONE4CASESTOREdotcom
IPHONE4WALLPAPERdotcom

Undeveloped, not much. Someone might pay a little more than reg fee. Apple can be pretty strict when it comes to enforcing their trademarks (to the best of my knowledge) so these might be hard to resell for much.

Your best bet is to move them offshore, develop the sites, make some cash and hope you don't get a C&D.

I have no experience with wordpress or coding whatsoever with only about $60. If all goes well with an offline deal tomorrow then I'll have around $200-$250. Would you recommend that I just buy a domain+hosting and just play around with WP and try to learn everything I can about the platform and IM or should I just purchase a site off of Flippa?

I cant answer for meathead but if I were to guess i think he would say to buy a cheaper website off of DP and upgrade it and then flip it on flippa.

Yeah, this is probably your best bet. Just be prepared to spend some time looking through auctions as there is a ton of junk on DP!

Instead of giving them your Paypal address, invoice them through the Paypal system as goods. Then zip up the site files and put them on a CD. Post this to the buyer with a tracking number.

Paypal will have an invoice, tracking number and 9/10 you will win the dispute.

Well, that s genuinely genius, I was wondering the same,

Your threads are really kickass:D

I have a question for you Matthead,

When doing my keyword research, is it an indicator of higher value when flipping if your CPC for your keywords are really high !

Also what are the best tools, if you have a list....

Can answer here or P.M. me , really up to how convenient it is for you !

Tks man keep on rocking in BHW:D

When buying a site on Flippa, what are the ways you can protect yourself from purchasing a site with hidden problems or misleading income numbers. For example, they were making money last month because their search placement was higher and it has since dropped.

I have been bidding on a few sites in the x,xxx range but haven't won any yet as I want to play things pretty conservatively to make sure I am getting a decent deal.

For any adsense sites, I ask them if they will place my code on for a few days so I can verify earnings. As well I ask them if they will login to their stats live with me so I can verify that the earnings are coming from the site they say they are. I try to verify things as well as I can but still wonder if there is anything more I could be doing. Are you usually just taking a bit of a risk when buying a site or are you pretty much 100% sure you know what the outcome will be when you take possession of it?

I cant seem to find any buy worthy websites on DP. Iam looking for auto-pilot / adsense websites to sell on flippa, since I think that will sell the best there.

Any suggestions besides DP?

What if you sell a site to someone and you deliver the code then they decide to dispute the sale? Now they have the code and even if they "return" the code they still have all your hard work. How much does escrow services protect against this? Seems like a slippery slope.

This can indeed be the issue in some cases, however it's extremely rare, because the code alone rarely has any value without the domain name and the traffic the domain name gets.

The only protection in these cases is a proper contract between you and the seller (which should be signed anyway), and if they go ahead and use your IP then you can take them to the court.

Is it possible to get an EMD, outsource the SEO, rank the site, monetize with CPA, CB, or amazon; have it bring in at least $1000 a month within a month or so, and then flip it for $10K to $12K? What are your thoughts on this?

I have the one question. Is it necessary to flip we need to have revenue on site? Only good traffic is not enough?

I think there's a BST thread here for it. Look for 'Killer Flipping Secrets' and you should find it. If not, go to killerflippingsecrets.com. The regular sales page price is more expensive than the one listed here on BHW though so try to find it here if you can.

This comment was made back in 2010. Is this course still relevant today? I'm looking to get into mostly buying expired domains and flipping them.

Hello, I was just wondering If its better to find some already proofed earning sites with stable income for lets say 12 months, and then by doing expensive advertisement (atleast 4K a month) make it much more more worth and sell it/continue in scaling as long as it works and then flip it. Because as long as I am reading here, the hardest part is bringing the concept that really works and then scaling it up to the sky for sweet profits =D
