yes. Shared hosting will sometimes have low quality sites, pron, warez, and such all on the same IP. I'm not sure whether google takes this into consideration, but to be on the safe side get dedicated. Google might also think that all the websites are by one person and will bring down your trustfulness and authority.
Getting a dedicated IP could be beneficial dependent on what you are trying to achieve.
2makemoney brings up a very valid point. However, a WHOIS will distinguish who the domain owners are, but whether G uses it or not in it's ranking algo is a different question!
But if your plan is to build a network of sites linking to your money site, then the general school of thought is that you do not want them to all be hosted on the same IP address.

So how this involved in ip c class ?
Most people advise creating site networks on different C-Class IP addresses. IP Classes can be broken down into a.b.c.d.
So if your site is hosted on 1.1.1.1, most people feel a link from 1.1.1.x is almost worthless. Where as a link from 1.1.x.x actually holds some value.
