What is Panda after?

The big winner appears to be Youtube videos which seem to have made huge gains in rankings even above EMDs. So maybe the reason there is no pattern is that Google just shoves aside any site in no.2/3/4 spot irrespective of quality of content or backlinks just to put up a YouTube video in its place!

What is panda after? It wants to eat your children, no really it's crazy. So ya I think a couple of the guys might be onto something, during one of the last major panda updates my EMD crap Amazon scraped website shot up to #1 out of nowhere, stayed for a couple days and went back to nowhere. They could be just testing crap sites I hope! Either way, all of you guy's complaining (rightfully so) I bet are still using Google to search, still using adsense and everything else Google. I know we can't completely get away from it but stop using them as much as you can, while webmasters are freaking out they had huge increases in profits, fun huh http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15300838. So I believe they're a monopoly we need to get away from as much as we can. We probably won't make much of a difference but hopefully it will catch on.
 
Yoy it looks like yesterday my largest site was also hit...lots of content, unique, and relevant. Rankings to all my pages dropped :/ I barely get ANY traffic from organic search from google web, but my ranking doesn't seem to have been affected in google images...still get the normal share of traffic from it.
I can't think of much I can do. I will keep doing my thing, regularly posting content and hopefully it will snap out of it.
 
My sales have dropped this last week, so after seeing this thread, I checked my main ranks... I've actually risen. One site from #5 to #2 and another from page 4 to page 2. Must be the economy? Trying to 2nd guess SEO and sales tactics seems like a crap shoot sometimes...
 
The best thing you can do is have link diversity and contextual links.... We've been testing for months and that's the only thing that works!

I second this, I have sites which had about 20k-30k backlinks, most of them BH, I didn't even look at them anymore since I thought they are doomed. For one of my sites I had more than 20k backlinks showing in webmaster tools.

About a few months back all those backlinks dropped to about 1k and at this point I was busy with some other projects and I checked it rarely but until a week ago it was still 1k.

A couple of days ago it jumped right back and it is over 20k backlinks now once again. Can't really explain this.

One thing I know for sure is that all of my sites are dancing like crazy for the last 5 days.
 
google loves fucking with IMs. My site droped too. About 3-4 positions for all competive keywords.
 
I only dropped from #1 to #2 in most of my keywords and from #3 to #10-12 in one keyword but dropping one spot alone (from #1 to #2) has huge impact on my search traffic..it's like 40% less...
 
Panda is a "quite" simple update I say quite because people have blown it way out of proportion, when in actuallity panda is an update to simply detect quality content in an organic order.

If you didn't understand that:
Panda likes original, unique content (that isn't kw stuffed) and hates dupe content.
Sure you should add you're kw a bit more than the rest, but keep it natural. Make sure to add image tags and keep your site relevant.

ok so the site I was talking about has 100 percent unique content. The articles have a density of 2 percent accept a couple that have 3 percent and the one with a density of 3 percent stayed the same. so now what?

1. Social: get a plugin if you're using wordpress and have the ability to share. Or just like your site\page or both. You could create a fb page too, but it depends on the quality of the product you're selling. Is it penis pills (spammy) or kitchen utensils (whitehat) aka nobody is gonna sHare that crap on their fb profile.

2. Bounce. Rate. Does and doesn't matter it really just matters on the amount of traffic you get and how qualified and targeted it is. Its that simple

3. Content: this should be obvios by now with the panda explanations. Write original content! No dupe shit and no spun crap. Keep your kw density at a normal level, but optimized just so google knows what you're aiming for.

How's your linking structure? Is it insane? Do you have links pointing to pr10 sites and pr 1 sites. The G has cracked down on spammy link structure and they have refined their technique.

Id have to say a lot of it is a total mix of links. profile links pointing to more profile links pointing to my page with other various web 2.0s, article links, all pointing to my internal pages with mixed anchor links. I think its pretty mixed with little to no foot print at all. The thing is though 2 of the pages not touched at all have just profile links to them. while the ones with the mix of links to them dropped. kinda strange. Might have something to do with it. One thing though is even pages that slowly started to rise (that I haven't built one link to) dropped as well...

sure we will figure this stuff out eventually.
 
I would echo what people are saying, it's almost like the rankings got rolled back a month or two, OR some type of links, or links from that time frame have got discounted.the last time that happened my sites

bounced back, but it never happened to my main money spinner before...

I just wanted to report some things. I am back to where I was before Panda for my good keyword. Also, my Facebook page is gone from the search results for that keyword. As I stated in a previous post, my Facebook page was higher than my site for the keyword. This must have happened some time last night because I have been checking every day and it was not like this yesterday when I checked. Also, I am in Google's results for keywords on my secondary pages that I was never in Google for before. Lastly, I did not do anything over the weekend to optimize my site. It just changed on it's own.
 
Let's ask this question - all your websites with the same Adsense ID were hit?

What if one of them was really the problem and the rest were affected because of it?


What can you report?
