I love interns

In all fairness (and so you whinny little bleeding hearts don't start) they have a great job. In exchange for 4-8 hr's/day of their time they get a lifetime of knowledge and experience in a job that some dream of. Not only do I share all I know about BH SEO, WH SEO and IM in general they also get to play around in the music and movie industry (my offline projects). They must like it, I have a few that want to join me for the long term.

the thing with interns is that its short lived...
they will be working but they have other plans of leaving to get a paying job..... somewhere else...
and that means all your training goes with them...

i work for one of the mtv affiliate stations... and
the interns there.... all they want is to be able to put the mtv name on their resumes....
and haul azz to another job.....

and interns want to work at real job places....
if you are doing SEO out of your home office...
I would think it would be kind of hard to get them to work for you..


outsourcing to other countries..... also has risks...
if you are not careful... they can steal your methods...
but that would be your fault....

I setup a computer, hired a person to work for 8 hours for $5 ($5 total for all 8 hours) and taught him to install wordpress themes and populate them with articles.

I'm just looking for ideas on how to scale it - I have a dream of putting about 10 people on the same model and make a reasonable profit.

The word "slave" is being thrown around this thread improperly...a "slave" is forced to work. An employee/contractor chooses the work. Last time I read the OP's first post on this thread I never saw any mention of him holding a gun to the guy's head in Sri Lanka and forcing him to work for $5/day...The guy could always quit or say no...

I am having a mixed reaction as going through the thread i have seen many people placing their views.I will say that the its good that OP is trying to help the people form underdeveloped nations to earn their Living and its really appreciable but as the same time a question arise that is it really meaning to help the people paying $5 per 8 hours.
Here we all are to earn money.Quite logical from OP point of view that we should try our best to get cheap workers for us.That I too do I guess and we all do but I guess that too has to considerable and paying $5 per 8 hours is not enough justified from my point to view atleast but still if others think that OP is helping the people from poor growing nations then I respect them and at the same time want to add few words that if you really want to help someone then take bigger steps to improvement.

Poverty is an ugly thing. Keeping people in poverty by paying them subsistence wages is ugly, too.

The OP is helping no one but himself.

I know people who used to heat coins with a lighter then throw them to begging children and laugh as the kids burned themselves trying to pick them up.

I wonder what kind of warm glow they felt by helping those poor children.

I didn't like them, either.

Attitudes about what you pay people are thoughts of weakness. You should rid those thoughts quickly if you want to become successful --- this guy could possibly be making $100-$400 an hour if he sets up the highest productive product...

It all depends on how much he is making from the worker, if you are paying someone $150 a month and making $500 off them that is just wrong, have a heart and raise their salaries, but if you are paying someone $150 a month and are profiting $50 a month that is fine. At some point you have to have a heart, if someone is doing a good job and you are profiting from it do the right thing, reward them for what they have done for you make there life a little easier as they are making your life extremely easy.

Also, last I checked, slaves didn't get paid a wage. The extent of their compensation, as far as I know, has been that of boarding and sustenance.

It has been proven, ad nauseum, that the wage he is paying is not paltry in the country of the employee. He's not keeping the man in poverty, as the man is making twice the minimum wage in Sri Lanka (if my memory of the thread serves me correctly).

Why is it that people cannot get over their own ethnocentric view? An impoverished wage in the United States is a middle class wage, or better, in some other countries.

under the mud, and consume what are known as "mudcakes", these have
absolutely no nutritional value, but they are consumed just to keep them alive.

So now tell me, how is paying a worker around $150-200 a month, which amounts to
DOUBLE the average monthly income of Sri Lanka, deemed "slavery"?
Last time I checked, slavery meant forced labor with no pay.People should
really do some research before offloading their 2 cents.
