Automate nearly everything with screenshots using Sikuli

Hey Guys.

Today I have something really special for you.
You all know the problem: You need a quick and simple automation, but you have to spend hours, days or weeks on coding in order to automate things.

I have used nearly every automation method: iMacros, AutoHotkey, Selenium-Webdriver, Xmacro and so on...

but what I found a few months ago blew me away!

There is a project called "Sikuli". Sikuli allows you to automate things by using screenshots. With Sikuli you can automate things that normally take a lot of time in just a few minutes! You can even automate Flash sites!!

And the best part: SIKULI IS FREE AND AVAILABLE FOR MAX OSX, WINDOWS AND LINUX! You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars for automation software. You don't have to spend money on scrapers anymore. You can just build them on yourown.

I saw this program a while ago while searching alternatives to imacros. Good program, only bad thing is you cant set up multiple runnings of it, and it takes use of your whole pc so you cant use it.

Has anybody tried this on a cloud sever? Does it have limitations on what it can do?

nice post gonna try this out, and add it to mah list. english is really good, i would use "a few" over "some" is the only thing. and it isn't "wrong" just will sound more natural.

If you really want to seriously automate stuff with sikuli you still need to learn a programming language...namely Python!

I played a bit with it, and I made a script to let blog comments automatically, but I have a problem when I ask it to type an hyperlink with anchor text, here is what I use :

but it doesnt accept the double quote (in red) and send me an error message, have you got a solution ?

I know sikui is still in development so maybe they dont add this feature yet

I am using virtual machines (VMWare) running ubuntu on it (oh yes, Sikuli is available for all operation systems). Maybe that's an option for you?

Yes, Sikuli is based on Python, but the Sikuli IDE already comes with the most common commands so you can build simple scripts just using your mouse.

the text to be pasted has to be between "..."

I'm testing this tool, but having trouble when i want to iterate through unknown links. One solution is to use click to tab but then you have to know how many links you got on page. Does somebody knows better solution?
