Scrapebox Best Practices - Enough is Enough!

Some great information here that I plan to put to use. I really like the idea of linking to non-existant web 2.0 properties and creating them a week or two later.

Does it pay to work at creating individual lists for each individual overall niche a website belongs to, or could I just compile a large list and split it up?

Going with that, do you ever use the same url multiple times? What limits do you set?

Right now I'm mainly undecided as to whether it would be worth it to buy an auto approve list from here, or better off to build one myself and test it?

A quick note that I would like to add here is that SB is not the only backlinking tool out there.

Do not misunderstand what I am saying. I LOVE SB. Everyone knows that I think.

But I am seeing too many people getting caught up in it so much that all they are focusing on is blasting thousands of comments every day.

This is not a good way to do things IMHO.

There are many other ways to generate backlinks that should not be ignored. SB is definitely a great tool to have, but it's definitely not the only one you should use.

If you abuse and overuse a tool like SB, you will more often than not find yourself having a hard time getting good results.

I agree, and honestly I feel like I have been living under a rock for ages now as I have only just come across SB, BHW and some other great tools which have made my life a whole lot easier. Right now I feel I am catching up on years of doing things the hard way without some of these really amazing automation tools. Do you mind sharing some other tools that you use or recommend using? I use Xrumer as well and use a VPS service that is run by another BHW member that includes SB, SENuke and The Best Spinner - so any additional tool suggestions that I should add would be much appreciated....thanks

i like to take peoples spam comments and steal their keyword ideas :)

The reason I'm posting this is for a few reasons:

1. I'm getting too many of the same PMs and emails about SB, and I bet I'm not the only one.

2. I'm seeing way too many of the same questions being asked, about SB.

3. I'm seeing too many people abusing the software mindlessly.

SB is a fucking great tool. It has to be one the best BH tools that has come out in a very long time IMHO, and is one of my personal favs.

However, SB - like every other tool - is not some magical thing that will start spitting out money for you after you buy it.

I say this all the time, and it's only because people need to hear it - a tool is only as good as the person that is using it.

So if you are not familiar with how this type of tool works and how to use it properly, then for god's sake don't just start blasting away like an idiot because it won't get you anywhere.

In fact, you will probably get your site(s) and/or IP banned.

Ok. Now that the lecture is over, here are a list of things you must do in order to be successful with SB. All of the complaints from people getting banned or having low success rates usually can be traced back to them not doing one or more of the following things from the list below.

1. Invest in some good proxies. If you have the money, use it and get private proxies since they are much more effective than shared. If not, you must get a nice list of shared proxies at the very least.

2. Post decent comments. It's not that hard if you take an extra 5 mins just to see what other people's approved comments are like and then base your comments off of that. The main point is if you want to be successful, then you need to put in a little extra effort.

3. Create multiple versions of your comments. I usually create 5-10 unique versions right off the bat, and then use software to spin those. At the very least, write one unique version and spin the hell out of it.

4. Do not use this on your money site(s). If you get banned, there goes your cash flow. Nuff said.

5. Do not use it constantly on the same domain(s). This will stand out and is most likely to get your domain banned. Especially if you are blasting a single or even just a couple of the same domains in a short time frame.

6. Space out your submissions. Don't just try to blast out 1,000 comments in an hour. If you spread them out, it works a hell of a lot better.

7. Use buffer sites. This not only will protect your money site, but it also allows you spread out your submissions across many different properties.

8. Use multiple names/emails. If you are blasting with the same few names and/or emails, you will get caught eventually.

That's all I could think of right now, but I will be sure to add more as they come to me.

I also would like to invite anyone that is either knowledgeable on how to use SB and/or is getting good results to add their input as well.

SB is such a powerful tool, but if you abuse it mindlessly, it's like sticking a spotlight on yourself.

Hope this helps some.

Now let's play it smart guys.:D

I keep on hearing people say SB is super powerful but it only ever seems to get you PR N/A nofollow backlinks on blogs that have hundreds and hundreds of out going links on them. I stopped using it in the end.

This is a great thread...

I also have a question, how does one make propper use of the commenting variables

like " %BLOGTITLE% will be replaced with the page title of the blog you are commenting on"

I tryed using it and instead of the blog title it posts the variable %BLOGTITLE%

eg: this is a {very useful|interesting|great|nice|} blog about %BLOGTITLE%

Thanks for this thread. I bought sb 3 days ago and went through the tutorials and guides, but I haven't really blast anything. I'd rather do more research on how to use it properly instead of just do et and get banned.

You are a wise man :).

As a newbie I hope to have masters like you take me on the right path...

Tool + Brain = U Win
Tool + Brute force = U loose

My $2 worth, ok so you can buy a cheap .info site from go daddy, pref an aged domain. Try and get a domain name close to your niche, Make a basic page on the domain name and include your keywords you want to target, blast it using SB and then in a few days do a permanent 301 from this to your money site. Works a treat for me.

As with any tool you have to understand how to use it or you will seriously screw things up. Especially with SB as it is so powerful! And you really don't need 100k links to dominate most niches. If you use it effectively you don't need to spam all over the net.

Great thread, I couldnt agree more, I love Scrapebox and how much Ive learned just messing around with it. I love building fat lists then blasting the heck out of em. ;)

I recently blasted a page on my own blog haha. I was like WTF! Of course I approved...

SB is great, I am not seeing too many great results as yet, but I have only been blasting for a few weeks.......probably need to teak some of my setup....

Firstly - great thread - thanks for all the advice.

But I have a question relating to your proxies comment - Why?
Why aren't free proxies as good as private paid for ones? I mean if the free proxies have been tested and are working and they post the comment correctly, what does it matter if you used a free proxy or a $10 proxy? The blog owner either doesnt see the IP address or care...

Here's another tip that I have found useful:

There are still a lot of people that want to try and go the free proxy route (I will never understand why). The free proxies being harvested by SB are being overused due to this, so they are becoming less effective.

How can you combat this?

Get a good proxy scraping tool and scrape your own proxies, and/or grab some free proxy lists. I have found that doing this will help the majority of the time.

There's a good scraper from a BHW member here:

Code:
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo-tools/171486-get-proxy-scraper.html

You can also use Google to find some as well.

There are also some good lists in here, too. Just use the search function and/or Google.

If you want to use free proxies, I recommend you get your own and use those with a mixture of SB harvested proxies.

However, I will say it again, it's really worth the money to get paid proxies.

Anyhow Black Hat in general is all about experimentation, thinking out of the box, and taking what you learned back to the drawing board to refine your system then redo it better. ScrapeBox is no different, if you think and learn you will *ahem* have a blast. :)

Refining and fine tuning any blackhat or whitehat software requires that we
"THINK". Abusing the tool as quickly as possible and moving on to the next "magic bullet" tool does not imho do any good in the long run.

This was interesting reading. I have just purchased SB and waiting for activation. Really concerened about getting 'blocked' and scrutinised this post. Harsh but hopefully as a newbie to SB I'll be able to take it slow and get some BL traction.
thanks Yukinari84 - if everyone was objective as you we'ddhave a lot faster progress ;)

I say this post is 98% bullshit and is meant to sell services and or software to noobs. You can get the Askimet ban hammer relatively easy even doing manual posting. I use paid proxies, paid VPN services, URL shorteners that pass link juice, buffer sites, pretty much everything. Doing any type of automated blog posting will get your sites listed with Askimet. At least with Wordpress blogs.

By the way here is a link to check to see if you are banned. You may be surprised to see that any site you have commented with is listed as banned.

Code:
http://www.bbwebconsult.com/en/tools/akismet-test

If you don't believe me. Pick a domain of one of your competitors that is listed on the above site as not being banned. Use Scrapebox to post to about 20 to 30 blogs using that URL. See if it is banned again. I'm betting it will be. Even with paid proxies.

I'm not claiming I know everything on the subject but the only commenting that has really worked well for me is manual commenting that is related to the post. Scrapebox has helped me find a few gems for doing so.

1) Reliability. You'll probably have 99% uptime on private proxies. Public ones go down all the time.
2) Speed. I was reading that most public proxies limit themselves to 5KB/sec. You won't have that limit with private proxies as usually they are on dedicated servers with big bandwidth.
3) Search engine blacklist. Since these shared IPs are used by hundreds if not thousands of users daily doing SB blasts, there is a good chance that they'll be blocked by Google and Yahoo in harvesting, PR checks, indexed checking, etc.
4) Akismet blocking. With less people using the same IP address there is less of a chance that the IP address will be blocked. This is especially if it is a totally clean IP address and it is not a shared public proxy, just yours.

You are right on point 1-3. However point 4 is only partially true, as Akismet blocks Ips if you sent more then 100 comments an hour, which any Scrapebox user reaches in matter of hours/days. So if you are getting a private proxy for point 4 mainly, dont botter. However point 1 - 3 are important enough for any Scrapebox user. Getting a 50% post rate as opposed to 20% is huge for me. As Im blasting 20000 blog comments an hour 24/5
