Making Iphone/ Ipad/ Android Apps as an income Source???

Hey Fellow Hatters,

I have tried a few IM strategies without any success. I have tried eBook development, affiliate sales through click-bank, CJ, as well as CPA.

I know that jumping from one thing to another is not a good move, but remember I put in so much time on each of the above, so as a wise businessperson am counting my losses, learning the lessons and moving on. I know there are so many apps in the market right now, but A FEW things are giving me the motivation to go the app route of making $$$:

>> More and more people are buying smart phones, most of which use apps, talk about Android and apple's iOS in particular.
>> The iPhone App Store itself is a 2 Billion industry, which is a big enough pie even if there are a million developers greedily targeting it. The Android App store is yet to explode, considering the aggression Google is pushing it with.
>> There was a recent report that stated that "Smartphone App market will explode to $38 billion dollar industry by 2015". Damn, if the analysis is true, I'd be damned if I stick to making ebooks and what nots trying to shove them into mofos mouth-holes.
>>AT$T just acquired T-mobile. Please don't start yapping how ATT is going to ruin T-mobile. Take that to other sissy forums. If you are money-oriented, then you guessed it right, that means you'll be seeing iPhone 5 available for T-mobile users. Yep, 34 Million more people who can get the iphone. More iphone owners = More chickens to whom you I can sell my app to.

I share the above because I care about the forum. This is a selfless forum that has done more for me than any other. What I am requesting is:

>>What are the resources that you are using at the moment for your app development?
>>Any challenges? If yes, how are you solving them?

When you enter the app industry keep this in mind.

Apple on approves top notch apps to the app store. You have to pay for your developer's license to submit apps and you NEED a mac and an iPhone to develop for them properly. They have tight restrictions on what is allowed in their store.

Android, on the other hand, is an extremely open market. Almost anything can get approved, and the developer fee is much cheaper (under $50 I believe.) Android allows more types of apps.

Also, expand your horizons.
Don't only look to make apps that sell for money, look to make free apps that utilize ads. Words with Friends for iPhone makes you look at an ad every time you make a move. It is a scrabble type game, so there are MANY moves per game.

Another great strategy regards marketing. A friend of mine created an app for a specific niche that he works in. This app brought in a bunch of downloads and has made him tons of money by referring to his regular site.

Wow this actually grabbed my attention as I soon want to purchase a mac and have always had an interest in creating apps for the ipod touch/ipad.

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to develop an app with little to no programming skills? Sorry if it seems like im thread-jacking but I want to get some opinions from the BHW community

I have heard of some programs that greatly assist in creating apps without much programming knowledge.

However, either way, it wouldn't be hard to pickup the necessary knowledge to create apps. Spend some time reading and following tutorials and you will be making apps in under 3 months

not to discourage you, but programming iPhone apps is relatively difficult if you come from a traditional programming background, at least for me. It's very different than your typical c/c++ app.

However, you can write the programs in objective C so you do have some knowledge of what is needed.

The android market is a lot tougher now. They actually look at your apps. 3 months ago you could make duplicate apps but not any more. They shut down 7 of my accounts on the same day for duplicate content. So now you have to make quality apps.

As for developing. If you can do html then you can do apps. It took me about 2 weeks to learn the android sdk software.

I phone app lanuguage is a lot easier. So you might want to start with iphone apps. There are a ton of iphone tutorials on YT.

Anyway, I really think you should take a look at http://www.airplaysdk.com/ , they just recently released an update. Not sure how tricky usining it is, but they have a GUI editor , and probably a whole heap of stuff to make multi platform deployment as easy as possible - then you can enter both android and apple store.

Some time when I finish college, I plan to work on an engine for an app, which can be applied to many things, such as a recipe backbone, then modify and use it for a soup recipe app, coctail drinks app, deserts app and so on. Just using that as an example, thats not my actual plan! So then if you push out a whole bunch, you will cover several niches, and chances are not all of them will flop badly

If you want to make apps for iphone you should learn objective c whic is a language iphone apps are made of.
I was using these tutorials on YouTube. This guy is really easy and fun to listen to unlike most of the ppl who do tutorials on youtube

Just follow em one by one and eventually you'll find yourself knowing a bit of objective c and ready to make some easy apps The same guy who made these objecitve c tutorials also made tutorials for iphone app development, but make sure u learn objective c first coz it's like basics

I started creating a couple seasonal niche apps and made around $800 within a month/ the idea came to me at the end of its season. next year I hope for a couple grand.
I used android app inventor its easy to build with but publishing is tricky untill you get the hang of editing your files.

The past couple days and what has brought me back to these forums is. Ive created a couple apps posting just a cpa offer "Free Ipad2" Within a hour I made around 10 bucks within 3 hours google marked my app as suspended and thats about as far as it got. I am waiting for a reply because they say it violates there tos, Ive read both the tos and my app's follow there guidelines. " they dont say anything about advertisment apps". im sure there not allowed but ehh worth a shot.
