Am I Crazy?

First off, I'd like to say, that I usually don't share my "feelings" with other people, especially with people I do not know. The reason I started this thread is because I need to know if I'm crazy, or my girlfriend of 4 years is crazy.

I started classes at Michigan State University in the Fall of '10 after I completed my Associates at a community college. Michigan State is a fair distance away from home, I'd say about 150 miles.

My girlfriend went to college for a while, then went to a private dental school (scam?) and couldn't find a job. Her car broke down and her parents just bought her a new car. And she lives with her parents.

I invited my girlfriend at the begining of the year to come and live with me. I offered to pay for her rent, and her school tuition, which at MSU is about 8,000 a year. She said no. Keep in mind she had no job or anything at this time. Nothing.

Fast foward to now. She got a job part-time as a receptionist at a doctors office. She works 3 days a week, minimum wage, with no benefits. She still refuses to move down with me, and has only since visited me twice, while I almost drive back home at least every other weekend.

She cites a few reasons like, "I have a job," "My dad just bought me a new car," "I don't want to move into a house that has only 1 bathroom" (I have 1 other room mate), and my favorite "I don't want to go back to college."

Am I the crazy person for getting really mad for not moving in with me? Or is she crazy for not taking up free tuition and rent?

Also, for every anniversery, birthday, special event, she almost expects me to give her a gift that's at least $100. She expects me to take her out to eat, or pay her tab every time I come home.

Here is the kicker that really pisses me off. I've always wanted to join the Marines. I feel like I am willing and able to serve my country well. My girlfriend actually WANTS me to do this. And is pushing me to join.

So when it comes down to it, my girlfriend has no problem with me possibly putting my life on the line in the Marines for my country, but when it comes to moving in with me along with free rent and getting a free education, she wants nothing to do with me.

Here's what I learned in my previous relationships. Follow your own heart man. Other people can hardly begin to understand the details involved w you and your gf. All the advice I have ever gotten by others has hurt rather then helped my relationships with others.

I mean, I just get so mad and depressed. It's weird because I'll be okay for a couple days, a week or a month and then I'll just start to think about it and get really really pissed off.

I don't know many people down here, and school is really tough sometimes.

I mean, how can anybody turn down living with your boyfriend and an all expense paid for college tuition paid for? I mean the person that's supposed to "love" me is distancing me as far away as she can from me.

My best friend said he would chop off his nuts, grow long hair and get breast implants and pretend to be my girlfrienid if I did that for him. (And I don't think he was joking). With an uncertain future and most students incurring large sums of debt, I could talk to many other girls and they would take this offer in a heart beat.

I've seen some wise post's out of you so I would have figured you to be an independent thinker. no? Those are not valued in the military... trust me. Beside that, I dunno why it would even cross the mind of a person who knows ahead of time they would just be used as any tool and not really cared for after breaking... or that it conflicts with logic or reason.

You may not be done with her, but, I'm sorry to say this, but it sounds like she is done with you. She just hasn't told you outright, and made it official.

It seems like she likes the distance between you (150 miles), and it sounds like she wants even more distance, by pushing you towards the Marine Corps.

The hand-writing is on the wall, my friend.. I truly am sorry to say. She is distancing herself from you so she doesn't feel too bad about breaking up with you.

Do not use your situation as an excuse to join the Marines. Although we've been propagandized to romanticized war, it isn't. Being in the Marine Corps, depending on your mindset, will be the worst experience of your life. The ONLY time you will say it was a good experience is when you are out and looking back on your life.

I can tell you from personal experience, I hated EVERY FUCKING SECOND of it....But I wouldn't change it for anything in the world because it shaped me into the person I am today.

The only caveat is this: not everyone is changed for the better.

I am independent, and I do feel that the US is a VERY fucked up place. But if I don't try to change something, then who will? Exactly.
