I happened to come across this the other day:

http://www.sportsgrid.com/media/vid...nizer-goes-viral-media-firestorm-clouds-form/

What's your opinion on the matter? I can't believe that the bigger child got suspended for what he did. I don't condone violence, but the other child literally hit him in the face--I mean what do you expect? Apparently, the parents of the small boy who got slammed are now trying to sue the parents of the bigger kid. Ridiculous!

Here's my comment copy-pasted from the video page:

Anyone who watches this video and doesn't see that that little kid deserved to be body slammed is a moron. This world is going to crap and the people who are willing to suspend this little boy for standing up for himself are the type of people who are at fault.

The big kid could have easilly killed that little one if he landed on his neck. It's both parents faults. For the bully, probably bad problems at home that leads him to act out the way he is, and the victim, his parents are probably not as open with him as they need to be or they would have advised him to tell teachers. Or they could be worse and would have encouraged this violence agaisnt the bully (disgusting). It's good that the bully got what he deserved but violence just escalates things in my opinion. The bully needs a real friend, a role-model. a hobby or some counselling. I feel sorry for both of these kids. Because it exploded on the internet it will stick with them a lot longer in their lives then if it was kept relatively private.

Final retribution. My hats off to Casey. Its about time EVERYONE, not just Casey, stand up to the bullies in this world including Wall Street, Bankers, Big Oil, and government.

I think you have a very rational position, but I don't think that in practice it's as easy to apply what you said as you may think. Sometimes it's not as simple as having problems at home, etc. There have been a lot of studies on bullying and a lot of it doesn't point to deeply-rooted issues--it's a natural social phenomenon which eventually works its way out and is expressed through individuals who are prone to it.

Like I said, I think it may be harder to apply the "nobody is violent" approach in practice because... if someone repeatedly assaults you, that's not exactly within your control. I mean, what should the bigger child have done in that situation? Go to the authorities later, but take punches to the face now?

It would have been a shame if the child had suffered worse injuries, but he was instigating the issue. Personally, I think that the bigger child didn't have many reasonable options in that particular situation.

In the same way that nobody would feel sorry for me if I poked a lion with a stick until it finally bit me, I don't think anyone should feel particularly sorry for the smaller boy. A family member of mine who watched the video basically said, "When I was younger, that's how issues worked themselves out. That little kid isn't going to bully anyone now."

Punk got what he deserved, nuff said. Don't start fights if you can't win them. IMO fighting is a part of human nature, it's true even in animals, dogs have to show other dogs who the "alphadog" is humans are not all that different in my opinion.

It's a dog eat dog world out there.

All responsible safety concerns aside...

That kid so got what was coming to him. In fact, I can rewind and watch him get body slammed over and over and still laugh.

I'm sorry, but when have we lost the right to defend ourselves? If someone hits me, I'm going to hit them back. This reminds me of myself in highschool when a girl decided she was going to bitchslap me/bite me when I tried to hold her down and I gave her a black eye. Of course, I got suspended and she didn't (I'm a girl also, by the way). This is very common nowadays. It seems like whoever does the most measurable damage is the one to take the fall, which isn't fair because I would never start a fight but I was expected to just stand there and let some crazy b**ch try to rip my hair out?

Definitely feel for this kid. People shouldn't start fights they can't finish.

Fuck that he deserved it. not so big now huh. i would congratulate that kid if i had the chance. what kind of school is that anyways lol. ive never seen a kid that size get bullied around here. especially not by someone that small.

Sometimes I find it funny how some people can take any mundane issue and somehow end up on a tangent about the evils of government and Wall Street. :p

Edit: Found another comment on that site which I pretty much agree with:
no wordist. if older ppl stepped in and stopped this. it woulda have just happened again and again. you all want to think we live in this civilized age, that violence is not necessary... u live in a bubble (im not trying to single you out, sorry). I was casey, i was bullied for my lunch, i pushed around, and never did anything cuz i was scared that i might kill them cuz i was bigger ( i was very young). one day my mom talked to the vp and the vp told me to kick the shit out the next guy (unofficially) that trys to punk me... i did. and it stopped (although i started to defend all the other kids being bullied after). if casey didn't body slam that lil sh!t it woulda just happened again and again. there needs to be a lesson made. its foolish to think that schools can be monitored to the point that this won't happened, there just isn't a budget for it.

The most important part:
if [authorities] stepped in and stopped this. it woulda have just happened again and again.
This is true. There's a point where that approach just doesn't solve the issue in practice (unfortunately). I wish it could be that way, but it isn't--so it's time to find some real solutions, in my opinion. I'd like for my kids not to have to deal with this sort of thing (any side of the issue whatsoever, I mean).

That's what I was thinking! IF I was a bully, I would have to wait until I hit puberty and grew a little taller or something. I think that kid is seriously looking to win a Darwinism award ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌

Bullies are generally cowards who only pick on people who won't stand up for themselves. For them, its a control thing. It makes them feel better about themselves, makes them feel powerful. You stand up to a bully, and the bullying generally stops. They can't get their sense of power and control that they get from their victims.

That little shit got exactly what he deserved, in my humble opinion.

And Casey should be congratulated for finally growing the stones to stand up for himself.

This might be a blessing in disguise for that little punk. Being on the receiving end of a good ass-kicking might make him a reformed bully. At the very least, he might be thinking twice before he messes with his next victim...

The human body is fragile. People can die from the littlest things, especially if the person has a pre-existing medical condition. Did the little kid inquire about any possible history of illness that the bigger boy had before he walked up and socked him in the face?

They are kids, and nobody died, and as far as the law is concerned, I feel that the larger boy was well within his rights of self defense. He immobilized the kid to prevent further damage to himself, then he refrained from attacking any further once he felt he was safe.

He actually was pretty careful of the way he slammed him to minimize risk to the most vital areas, allowing the kid to absorb the punishment with his hands, arms and legs.

I thought the fact that the bigger kid didn't just step all over the little one after he threw him down was noteworthy. The entire ordeal demonstrates bad character vs. good character.

Fuck i was not expecting that hahahahahaahahahahahahahahhahahahaha
:rambo:

Little kid got exactly what he deserved. If the big kid was suspended then so should he and if his parents are going to sue that is laughable

The kid definately deserved it. The school is safer now. One of two thing will happen because of this. 1) the kid will never bully anyone ever again since the fear has now been put into him. or 2) he will move on to a smaller, weaker kid that he can intimidate and bully easier without the threat of reprisals.

The bully got what he deserved. Growing up my siblings and I were bullied cause we were poor immigrants and didn't know the language. My dad gave us the green light to fight back and no one ever bothered us again.

I say the same to my kids. If someone ever lays a hand on you, you have my full permission to kick some ass and I will deal with the grownups who obviously didn't do their job in protecting you when I leave you in their care.

Shame on the grownups in the school for not supporting a kid who obviously wanted nothing to do with the violence and only reacted when he was punched dead-on in the face. Idiots.
