I purchased a few domains that have to do with the current disaster in Japan. I purchased them about 15mins after it was first reported. Anyway, there is some guy on eBay trying to sell one of my domain for $25,00 he is advertising it elsewhere too. Any idea why someone would do this? It makes me kind of nervous.

I have no idea who the guy is actually I think it's a company. I haven't put the site up for s a l e as of yet.

He is probably trying to sell it first....and then come in and offer you less. If you decline...he will just cancel the auction?

That's what I figured but it's still kind of odd.

Very. Send him a message. Or better yet...Bid on it!

I should bid on it and then sue them for not delivering. It is a company actually their out of Chicago.

Maybe it was registered before by him and he just still has the auction up. 25K on Ebay for a Domain name alone is not very common anymore Ebay is not a good high ticket marketplace for DN. Either it is like Eyerish suggested or the seller just has a store with a bunch of bulk high end listings that he has not updated.

You can use domaintools bulk checker to see if the domain was ever registered before and if he just has the listing in a fixed price auction this could be it. Good luck with your sell and I am sure it will all get straight because you own the domain at the end of the day it is your call.

Looks like they put up the listing the same day that I bought it. I am the registered owner in Whois. He initially had it listed for 50k.

lol, what are you worried about? If he does sell it then you can make like 24k. If you just registered the domain then what have you got to lose?

If you are sure you are the owner then don't worry. He may think he is the owner, he may have tried regesting at the same time as you but didn't check the resluts properly. That would be funnier.

Yeah I wouldn't say you have anything to "worry" about, like you're going to get in trouble. Worst case scenario if he sells the site that belongs to you, obviously he won't be able to deliver it to the buyer. The buyer will contact whoever the registered owner is (you) and this douche already made the sale for ya! If anything you should cut him some commission ;)

Just be careful, these companies who are auctioning and selling your domain may be bullies sometimes, happen to us a few years back, trying to force us in a corner.

Goodluck OP

I don't understand how a company can push you into a corner when you own the domain, it's yours unless you choose to sell it. Mind elaborating a bit?

Report them to the (whatever agency - FBI?) for fraud. I'm pretty sure that selling something that's not theirs is fraud. And to the site where the auction is.

Yeah, I suppose I could report them to a Law Enforcement Agency, but I most likely wouldn't get any money from it. I don't even know how I would go about trying to sue them.
