How to move up YouTube SERPS?

Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this seems a dumb question(!), but how do I move up the YouTube SERPs for a keyword typed into YouTube itself?

Is it purely based on YouTube views?

Do I just need to buy YouTube view packets from someone (e.g. ecbzh29) on Fiverrr?

I've only a few hundred views so far - will a jump of a few thousand views in a week be seen as a spike by YouTube and be ignored?

The top SERPs position for my keyword has 23,000 views (I'm at the bottom of the first page position) - do I buy a packet for 20,000 views over 4 weeks? Will that move me up the SERPs?

Also - does Geography make a difference? My market is the UK, US & AUS - will buying packets from India/Asia help me?

Youtube is a search engine. (Owned by google) so its not any one thing that makes teh difference. It is an algorithm, that is deeper than most people think. There is on page things, like description, title, and tags, and also things like how many subscribers, likes, favorites, views, channel views, user interaction, even embeds and links. It is really a blend of everything.

Keywords at the beginning of the description, Keywords at the beginning of the title and a lot of keywords in the description and tags always seems to do it for me

Could anyone give me an indication of what % of likes/comments/channel views/subscribers/favorites to views works best?

Also, does geography make a difference to SERPs (like google)

I wouldnt worry about doing tags.

Google took out the importance of tags quite a while ago with Youtube. It still helps a user find your video, but it does not affect where it ranks for a keyword at all

I'm curious of this as well. I have youtube video as of now it has only 51 videos. I've ask my friends to comment and like the video. Will that help?

There seems to be two issues here - getting ranked within Youtube and getting the same video to rank high on Google. Assuming you've done proper on page stuff, Youtube seems to look at the view counts. You would assume how many times a video is embedded/linked to effects your Google position. I'm in the middle of doing some tests now.

The question I have is can you rank high on Google just with view counts? (easily manipulated) Or can you just link to it and get it ranked that way? Or what is the percentage of the two?

OK, if anyone gives a shit, here's what I've found:

I compared a bunch of videos that were ranking #1 for their keyword phrase on Youtube to their position on the Google SERP. (These videos were in MY niche so I'm not tellin' you guys what they were - so THERE.)

To give you an idea on how large the niches were, they were all around 4,000 global a month. Not huge, but nice and targeted keywords to what I'm selling. All videos were optimized for on page stuff correctly. In short:

Within Youtube - views are most important. Likes didn't seem to do much.
On Google - links are what push you up higher.

If you've every noticed, Google generally includes a Youtube video into the SERPS for whatever your looking for. It will always take the Youtube video with the most views. How high that video ranks depends on how many external links it has. It seems if your favorited within Youtube on someones account, that may count as a link. (within Youtube - at least it shows up that way on Yahoo site explorer)

The interesting thing I noticed is if you're #2 on Youtube, you will get coat-tailed up the Google SERPS just because Google insists on grouping the top two videos together. This way if the #1 Youtube video has tons of external links and is pushed way up there, as long as you're #2 on Youtube, you'll be sitting along side of it.

Surely it's way easier to blast likes to your YouTube video to push it to #2 in the YouTube SERPS (and hence it's likely to appear at top of Google SERPS), than build backlinks in the normal manner???!

YouTube is sticking with an outdated model of:
Title = meta title tag
Description = meta description tag
Tags = meta keywords tag
This means that whatever you enter as the title, description and tags will be translated by YouTube into HTML elements of the video view page. Look at Google's cached version of any YouTube video page and you'll notice a bunch of text and no video. The conclusion that you should draw is that video is still invisible to Google and other search engines.

OK, interesting. That report matches what I found. I'm wondering now if I should repeat my keyword in the description as well as the title on Youtube. Getting views on Youtube is easy enough, just start using Viewet. (see thread around here)

I personally don't understand how views are that important in rank.... I always though title description and tags. Being in good related videos seem to help as well. I will do some testing myself and reply back here with "increasing views"
