Is Google PageRank DEAD?

When you get a PR boost isnt that supposed to help push your sites a little higher for the keywords your targeting?

Ive got a site which is 3 months old, PR0 and getting about 13k visits a day. So PR means **** all when your tying to rank really.... but im still thinking when the next PR update comes around i will get a boost in rankings.

Pr is not a rank factor anymore...Yes can be used for some analisys, but now anchor text is king.

Ha Ha, Everyone screaming about how un-important PageRank is, think of PageRank as a niche only a percentage of people care about it but they will PAY FOR IT. Just because it means absolutely nothing to you, there are actually people who will sell the barn to own a site sporting that "useless" site analysis. And if you can scale and mass create these sites bearing decent "useless" PageRank you can bank some serious coin.

PR = Penis Rank

I had a convo on DP with some tosser a few days. I do not remember the exact wording but it went something like this:

Him: oh look at me I got a PR6 site I am sooo cool!
Me: Enjoy your shitty little internet Penis Extension. My PR3 site made me $212k this year.
Him: Whatever, you're lying you cant make that much with a PR3.
Me: Technically I can make that much with a PR1. Users buy products from me Google doesn't.
Him: Oh, well I can sell my site for more than yours.
Me: Can you sell it for $212k?
Him: Shut up newb, you don't know shit.

This made my morning...thank you lmao

For backlinkers, PR is still a great way to find pages that will give you more link juice. Other than that it's irrelevant.

I don't care about the PR of my own sites. It has nothing to do with rank or making money.

However, I do care about the PR of the webpages that I'm linkspamming.

PR is still a general estimate of the number / quality of other sites linking in.

Higher PR pages are more likely to confer a higher link spam value than lower PR pages.

Of course, relevance and so many other factors are also important.

I hate the whole google PR system, when I try and swap links with other sites and they refuse solely based on the fact my site is a pr2 when there's is a pr3 so 'it's just not worth it'
Wish google would just get rid of it altogether

Quite True. But the thing is, a lot of people Still consider PR Status to Buy sites. I remember, Once I wanted to sell a money making site and people were telling me that my site having NO PR at all, so they are not interested EVEN when the site was making good money ($xxxx/month)

So, if you run the biz, its useless, but if you wanna sell the biz, it still matters.

Exactly, the PR adds to the sales value when you're flipping sites...otherwise, cashflow is king!

The delay has opened up a nice grey area for commenting. I find lots of PR0 pages where all similar pages published before the last update have some sort of PR. These are usually not spammed to death (yet) but carry the same weight as the pages that were there before the update.

Even though they show PRna, look at the pages on the site before the update.

Even if it's not exact, it gives a good idea of the health and stability of the site. If I was buying something from the web, having a pr zero would feel insecure and doubtful, but if the site was pr 5 or so I'd have a feeling of security, like this company has been around a while and isn't just going to take my money and run off with it.

I don't care a rats ass regarding PR... As Nufaman said already, i have the same thing. A PR4 site of mine makes shit while my PR0/1 websites make me a decent K a month each.

Pr really doesn't do much, i like to see my site going to pr6 but.. honestly it doesn't help much.

as long as site buyers are concerned about PR,i am going to be a little concerned about it as well.I do not want anybody asking me about a PR0 while i am selling a 2k per month money maker.that's it.
