Moreover, we have not done link building for your site before so it is not possible to analyse the reason for sudden decrease of links

It may be a temporary thing only

Did you check your backlink from site explorer? If yes, their system got problem and they still tried to resolve the problem until now. Many people checked their backlink via yahoo site explorer yesterday and found their backlinks dropped by 50 percent or more..
