I am obviously a newbie but I have been on here for a week now reading through forums non stop about everything that I can think of to learn about SEO. I have read alot about the xrumer services some of which boast a 1 million link blast. That sounds amazing. My question is, how many out of that one million really stick around? Or how many of those really matter if they are not from a high PR site? I know these are basics. I just dont see these questions anywhere.

i see about 3-5% stick. depending on how well I target this, it can be 5-10%.

by targeting I mean really tweaking hrefer for pin-point scraping.

if you blast to a high number of locations, i.e. millions, chances are you are sending out to general interest and thus you will be getting a lot of rejects, verifications and failure.

IMHO, right on the money.

I personally use 7k blasts and net around 6k profiles. I've got about 35,000 websites currently that have a >75% success rate that I build databases off of on the fly.

Doing a 1M blast is mostly just to quote a big number, at least that's my 2 cents.

and your success rate is most likely from HIGHLY targeted scrapes. going for he 1,2,3 millions, expcet shit results and general interest links, however on a 3 million blast and getting 3% thats still 90K links.

use logic to determine an ROI or cost/benefit.

Okay, then what is a good prce for the blasts? A general lnk is still a lnk right? or is that not a good way to think? I agree on the ROI thats what it all comes down to.

Two ways for two types of individuals:

Law of Average People: The people who run telemarketing companies. They say it doesn't matter what the product is, if you call a certain amount of people, somebody's going to bite. Some people run xRumer not giving a ******** about whats going to stick and what's not and the PR of the links. Are they unsuccessful? I think not...

Maticulous people: Such as the 75% success guy above with 35K sites. Quality over quantity people with more patience or maybe even more understanding. People who don't care about large numbers if they are not getting exactly what they want for each minute they spend on something. Are they less successful because of this? No.

These are simply two different views that accomplish 1 goal. You take your pick.

Actually, I would put myself into a 3rd type.

I run what's fastest and nets the best results. Sure, anyone can throw 1M at XRumer, truth is, I can run the same 1M once, take the resulting profiles, build a new db of the probably 15-20k profiles he got, and get the same exact results in 1/10th of the time.

Anything else is just wasting resources imho.
